In-Person & Virtual Worship Service
Sunday, April 27, 2025
Second Sunday of Easter
ONE 9:45am Blended Service
Sunday School 10:45am
All services will be live-streamed to Facebook & YouTube.
Introduction
In spite of all we have heard and all we have seen, it is often hard to believe. Because it is hard to believe, we will invest ourselves in the Easter mystery for fifty days (a week of weeks). Because it is hard to believe, John the evangelist will provide sign after sign celebrating Jesus’ victory over death. Because it is hard to believe, the risen Jesus will return to us again and again in the mystery of holy communion, inviting us to touch and taste his presence, and offering us his peace.
Readings
Acts 5:27-32
The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus
Psalm 118:14-29
You are my God, and I will exalt you. (Ps. 118:28)
Revelation 1:4-8
Jesus Christ, the firstborn of the dead, is coming
John 20:19-31
Beholding the wounds of the risen Christ
For those worshiping online via Facebook or YouTube, please leave a comment while watching. We miss seeing you, and we'd like to know you are with us.

At Advent Lutheran, EVERYONE is invited to partake in the Lord’s Table, for communion is a sacred gift of grace extended to all. Regardless of background, status, or past mistakes, Christ welcomes each person with open arms. The table is not reserved for a select few but is a place of unity, love, and spiritual nourishment for all who seek Him. Just as Jesus shared meals with sinners, outcasts, and disciples alike, so too does His invitation to communion remain open to everyone. It is a moment of remembrance, renewal, and fellowship, where all can come to receive His grace and be strengthened in faith. At our worship service we use intinction, you will be given a wafer which you may dip into either red wine or white grape juice. If you have mobility issues, please let the usher know and the table will come to you.
| | |
If you find yourself in need of pastoral care, or know of someone who does, we encourage you to reach out to us. You can contact the church office at 615-893-9705 or connect directly with Janette Walker at 615-796-1854.
At Advent Lutheran Church, we are dedicated to nurturing a supportive community, and we want to assure you that you are not alone on this journey. Our doors are open, and we are here to walk alongside you, providing the timely assistance and compassionate support you deserve. Please do not hesitate to reach out; your well-being is important to us.
| | Meet and Greet with Pastor Dawn Bennett | | |
The Advent Lutheran Call Committee and Church Council are pleased to announce that we have offered Pastor Dawn Bennett the position of Pastor, and she has joyfully accepted! This is a one year PART-TIME call.
Join us for a meet-and-greet with Pastor Dawn on Saturday, April 26th, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM at the church.
We look forward to this exciting new chapter in our church community!
| | Special Congregational Meeting | |
Sunday, April 27th after Worship
Advent will hold a special congregational meeting to call Pastor Dawn Bennett as our Pastor. This is a one year PART-TIME call. All voting members are encouraged to attend.
| | | | Time and Talent Temple Talk | | |
Sunday, May 4th
Find out what having a part-time pastor really means. What is important to you for the pastor to lead? What is something you could provide?
Filling out a Time and Talent sheet is a simple but meaningful way to get involved during Advent and support both your parish and the broader community. By sharing your skills, interests, and availability, you help bring the spirit of Advent to life—whether it’s through decorating the church, preparing meals, assisting with events, or reaching out to those in need in our community. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and helps us grow together in faith and service.
| | Connect and Gather Sunday May 4th | | |
Join us for a special Connect and Gather on Sunday, May 4th after worship. There will be talking points on the sermon, visit with others and meet new visitors! There will be goodies to share.
| | Please Transition from Vanco to Breeze Giving ASAP! | | |
Advent Lutheran Church is transitioning from Vanco to Breeze for all online giving to help streamline our donation process and improve the overall experience for our members. Breeze offers a simpler, more user-friendly platform that integrates directly with our church management system, making it easier to track and manage contributions. If you’ve been using Vanco, we kindly ask that you switch your giving to Breeze ASAP. This change will help us reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and better serve our congregation. Thank you for your continued generosity and support!
If you have questions, please call the church office and Deb can help with the transititon.

What to Donate to the Clothing Shed And Payment from St. Pauly | | |
Our Blessing Box is a blessing to those around us that are in need and it’s frequently empty. Please think about adding a few items when you do your weekly shop.
Just make sure you don't put regular clothes or blankets in the boxes or on the ground. You can add those to our clothing shed instead (please place in bags).
We also don't want to forget our homeless who always are in need of basic toiletries. If you choose to bring food, consider adding it to the shelves in the kitchen to be rationed out to the box daily. You may also put items in the box from the kitchen (just not everything) if you so choose.
Also remember that NO household items, clothing, expired or fresh (perishable) food should be left in the box. Also check expiration dates, anything expired will be thrown away.
Thank you for your generosity and for being a part of this wonderful initiative.
Please text or email Cheryl Herberg (615) 300-6283, if you have any questions.
