Advent Pause: REJOICE!

A Note From Pastor Linda

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. " Luke 2.8-10

"REJOICE- in the Lord always, again I say REJOICE!" ~Philippians 4

Greetings Friends~

"Silent Night, Holy Night" verse two:
Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing "Alleluia"!
Christ, the Savior is born,
Christ, the Savior is born. (vs.2)

Enter the Shepherds and the Heavenly Hosts- and the Christmas concept of JOY. What is JOY? How is it defined? Definitions are simply descriptions of the way people use words. Words don't have intrinsic definitions. They are given definitions by the way people use them.

When I consider the word JOY in my walk of faith, consider this working definition: Joy is the God-feeling in my soul, produced by the power of the Holy Spirit, as she opens my eyes to the beauty of Jesus in the world.

How do you define JOY? Are joy and happiness the same thing? Currently Mark and I are in Arizona with our 3 year old granddaughter Evie- her first "alone trip" with Frampa and Framma (aka Grandpa and Grandma). Seeing JOY in a toddler's eyes as we play at the playground and see the Christmas lights is priceless. Her JOY is so simple as she explores and delights in this world that God so loves!

On Wednesday and Sunday we will explore this definition- and consider verse two of Silent Night. On Wednesdays we will be building a Family Nativity set- 1 piece each week. Make sure to pick up an Advent devotion to use at home.

This week is all about JOY... JOY to the World!
