Elijah finds the presence of God not in earthquake, wind, or fire, but in the sound of sheer silence. When the disciples face a great storm on the sea, they cry out with fear. Jesus says: "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." Amid the storms of life, we gather to seek the calm presence of Christ that soothes our fears. In comforting words of scripture and in the refreshing bread and cup of the eucharist, God grants us peace and sends us forth to be a sign of God's presence to others.

We want to help parents and grandparents by providing resources for teaching about God's love to youth at home.

This Sunday, August 9, we will be Blessing the Backpacks and supplies that will be used by our youth this year. Although it will be different from in the past, it will still be a special prayer of protection and usage. Have your supplies ready for the service whether at home or at church.
This Sunday, August 9, join us in celebrating the graduation of a couple of our youth. Maggie Rupert and Alex Harrison will be graduating from high school. Let's celebrate and pray for them as they begin this new chapter in their lives.
New Advent Wreath
If you have been to AdventELC in person you have probably noticed the beauty of the sanctuary, the brilliance of the stained glass windows, as well as the craftsmanship and uniformity of the woodwork including the altar, crucifix, and baptismal font.

While our current Advent Wreath has served us well, it was noticed that its look varies from the consistency of the rest of our worship furnishings.
To remedy this, the fine volunteer woodworkers at AdventELC went to work doing their carpentry for Christ by designing and crafting a new Advent Wreath... and we could not be happier with the result!

We give thanks and praise to God for George Zaebst, the late Greg Zaebst, Chuck Page, and Pastor Will Saunders for the hours, expertise, materials, inspiration, fellowship, and love that went into making this piece that will serve well in our worship of the LORD!
A Quick, Midweek Spiritual Pick-Me-Up

We hope you'll join us weekly on Wednesday at 7:00pm.

Who Remembers...
"Let's Go Krogering"?
Advent is still participating in the YouthScrip through Kroger. You buy what you normally would, and Advent Youth receive the rewards. A portion of what you spend is then forwarded to Advent. All you need to do is to go to your Kroger account at Kroger Community Rewards , link your Plus Card and put in the ID 330 to designate Advent as your choice organization. It is simple and Advent reaps the rewards.
