2nd Sunday after Epiphany
8:30 a.m. - In-Person
11:00 a.m. Online and In-Person

The Sundays after Epiphany continue to celebrate the revelation of God's glory to us as it was made known to the magi and to those on Jordan's banks at Jesus' baptism—today using wedding imagery. Our God rejoices over God's people as those being married rejoice over one another. By the power of the Spirit there are gifts galore for everyone. In Christ Jesus the best wine is saved for last. Taste and see.

It's that time again for Advent to put a tackle on hunger in a faithful and fun way!
In any given week, 207,700 different Ohioans
receive emergency food assistance just to get by.
All donations go directly to
Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio Food Pantries.

We LOVE to show God's love to others.
We also love having FUN!
So this year the left and right sides of the congregation are going head to head to see who can raise
in the name of Jesus!
During the entire month of January and ending on February 6 your donations help lead either the
Pugnacious Preachers or the Lightning Lutherans
to victory and MOST importantly, serve others in the name of Jesus.

For every food item you donate, your team will get one point.
For every dollar you donate your team will get five points.
This is because
LSS can stretch your $1 donation to $5.25 of buying power!
On February 6
a fun game hosted by Pastor Aaron will be played in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45a-10:45a and added to
the last donations, which will then be tallied and we will declare a winner!
Of course the real winners are those who will have food to eat thanks to your generous donations :)

What has Advent's youth been up to the last couple of months?? Well...a lot!
In November Advent's Sr. High Youth went to Wittenberg University for a campus visit. They did a small service project at Christ Church Lutheran in Dayton, had a campus tour, and experienced what it is like to live on campus. It was a great trip! We also visited and worshipped with the community of Jacob's Porch at OSU another week.
Also in November we decorated cookies to be delivered to 5 local eldercare facilities in December. Normally we would carol and sing but with COVID we weren't able to do this. However, the cookies were delivered and the residents really appreciated their generosity!
In December the youth participated in the Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program, a distribution of food and gifts for the less fortunate in the Columbus area. This program serves about 1500 families at the Ohio Expo Center's Lausche Building. Most of our group served as cart runners which help the clients to their cars and help them load up their treasures. A few were involved in the food distribution and also the registration process. I wanted to highlight one youth, Grace Lusk. Grace was able to use her American Sign Language (ASL) skills with a client. She was able to communicate with a woman and made it a very smooth process where it might not have been. The woman was SO appreciative for her help. It was a total God moment!
Lastly, however certainly not least, all of the youth that participated during the Live Nativity and the Family Service on Christmas Eve! Thanks especially to the HIP Puppet Ministry and their very entertaining telling of the Christmas story at the Family Service on Christmas Eve!
Envelope Challenge Results
For the past few months we have been blessed with envelopes from the Envelope Challenge coming back filled. Currently we have raised $4422 for the expenses of the 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN! That works out to be about $440/ week! 52 of 75 envelopes have been returned! Thank you for your generosity and support of the 13 youth and 4 adults going to the Gathering!

The Envelope Challenge continues so if you have not gotten your envelopes back yet, there is no rush! Thanks again to Advent for your benevolence toward your youth!

Missing Coat
Please check your coats at home. A ladies black wool coat was mistakenly taken home and another black coat was left in it's place. There were gloves in the pockets. If you happened to find that you have the wrong one, please call the church office at 614-451-3639 so we can switch it with the correct one. Thanks!
