Important: Changes to Unit Renewal Dates
Dear Unit Leaders,
Scouting America is changing the unit renewal process so that all units will eventually renew in February.
What’s changing?
Beginning with units that expire in October 2026 or later, units will transition to the new February renewal cycle.
During this transition:
-
The unit renewal fee is $8.50 per month.
-
Your unit may need to pay for additional months of renewal so that its expiration date moves to February.
- Youth and adult registration fees are not changing.
- Once your unit reaches the February renewal cycle, future renewals will follow the normal February schedule.
What do I need to do?
Nothing different. When you complete your unit renewal, simply be prepared for the unit renewal portion of the fee to be higher than usual.
The increase is because your unit may be paying for several additional months to move its expiration date to February. The maximum additional unit renewal amount during this transition is approximately $34.
An example
If your unit currently expires on October 31, 2026, you will renew beginning November 1, 2026.
Instead of renewing for just one year, your unit will renew through February 29, 2028. This covers the 4 additional months needed to move your unit onto the February renewal schedule.
At $8.50 per month, the transition period may result in a higher unit renewal fee than you are used to seeing.
The important thing to remember:
Your unit is not being charged a new fee just because of the change. The unit is paying for the additional months needed to move its renewal date to February.
Thank you for your patience and continued support of Scouting America and our youth and units.

Celebrating Community, Culture, and Scouting at the 53rd LA Korean Festival!
Greater LA Scouting was proud to join the celebration at the 53rd LA Korean Festival! Troop 43 Hollywood and Pack 43 joined fellow units from the Metropolitan District to staff the Greater LA Scouting booth and march in the festival parade.
Since its beginnings in 1974, the LA Korean Festival has celebrated Korean American heritage by bringing people together through culture, traditions, delicious food, and incredible performances. It’s a wonderful reminder that our communities grow stronger when we take the time to learn from and appreciate one another.
Our Scouts spent the weekend serving their community, representing their units with pride, and connecting with families from all walks of life. Marching in uniform, they showed what Scouting is all about: showing up, lending a hand, building friendships, and respecting every culture around us.
We’re proud of our Scouts for representing Greater LA Scouting and helping make our community a more welcoming place for everyone!

🇺🇸 Honoring Service, Leadership, and Scouting!
Congratulations to Scoutmaster Jesse Tellez of Troop 43 in the Metropolitan District, who was recently awarded the new Military Service Knot by Greater LA Scouting in recognition of his 16 years of service in the U.S. Army!
Now, he continues to serve his community by sharing the leadership, discipline, and life skills he developed through his military service with the next generation of leaders. Troop 43 is fortunate to have a Scoutmaster whose commitment to serving others extends well beyond his military career.
Sponsored by American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood, Troop 43 was founded three years ago by Scoutmaster Glen Schecter. Jesse took the reins as Scoutmaster earlier this year, helping lead a growing unit of approximately two dozen youth supported by a dedicated team of adult volunteers.
The Military Service Knot recognizes adult leaders with qualifying military service, and proceeds from its purchase help fund youth registration fee waivers for military families.
We are proud to recognize Scoutmaster Tellez for his service to our country and his continued dedication to Scouting. Thank you for leading by example and helping shape tomorrow’s leaders!
