A Full-Day of Adventure Awaits Inside Jefferson Barracks Park
Most St. Louisians have heard of and have probably even visited Jefferson Barracks Park in South St. Louis County but few people realize the extensive list of things to experience inside the 426 acres of this beautiful park. If you are looking for a fun day full of adventure that is sure to exercise your kids' minds and bodies, spend the day at Jefferson Barracks Park!

Start the day off early with a walk on one of the scenic trails where you may share the trail with the deer who call JB home. For the sports lovers, stop and play a round of disc golf or bring your bow to try out your skills on one of the archery ranges.

For lunch, pack a picnic and throw a blanket down or settle in at a picnic table in one of the four shelters within the park.

After lunch, take the opportunity to learn about U.S. military history in one of the many museums inside the park.

Start with the new exhibit inside the Old Ordnance Room that showcases Jefferson Barracks' role in WWI. This interactive exhibit is open Wednesday - Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m.

Just outside of the museum is the Gold Star Shelter and new monument that honors Missouri servicemen and women who were killed in action, or casualty of war during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Both the shelter and monument were donated by the Missouri Military Memorial Foundation.  Nearby is the Jefferson Barrack's Visitor's Center and Gift Shop. Stop in and pick something up for the history buff in your life!

On the south side of the park are two more great museums that are full of great history. At the Missouri Civil War Museum visitors can see weapons, equipment, items and uniforms of those who lived during our nation's defining moment in history. The JB Telephone Museum features an extensive collection of telephones, telephone-related equipment and memorabilia.

After your heads are full of great historical knowledge, relax and finish the day off with some fun at the aquatic center at The Pavilion at Lemay.  This state-of-the-art facility features a deep water pool with slide, diving board, diving platform and climbing wall; lap lanes; a wet deck area, lazy river and a tot area with play structure. There is also a party room, locker rooms and a concession stand!
Believe it or not, this is just a few things that this magnificent park offers! Visit the website for more information on upcoming events, wedding sites, educational programs and more!
