And So It Begins...
Introduction: Proclamation to Practice
After Peter’s proclamation of the Gospel at Pentecost, the church gathers in homes and then scatters into the streets of Jerusalem. Almost immediately the actions of these first-century disciples, empowered by the Holy Spirit, begin to ruffle the feathers of the religious elite. Join us as we begin this new series on Acts Chapter 3, where the church begins to proclaim and practice living as the Spirit-filled body of Christ bringing to bear the Kingdom of Heaven on the world.
Daily Prayers, a Digging Deeper guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum will be available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (and for all of our other sermon series) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

We'd love to have you work with your child on memorizing this verse at home!

Adventure:Kids Book of the Month
The Bible is our first resource when it comes to books about God, but having extra tools in our toolbox is always helpful! Our Adventure:Kids book of the month for September is…
Notes from Jesus: What Your Best Friend Wants You to Know by Mikal Keefer
In John 15:15, Jesus calls His disciples friends. The idea of being friends with Jesus can be hard to grasp for anyone, especially kids. This sweet book takes biblical truths and the character of Jesus and formats them into bite-sized “letters” from our friend Jesus. Each letter is paired with a Bible verse, and age appropriate application for young kids.
For a sneak peek inside the book or to purchase, check it out HERE

Adventure:Equip, Fall Session
Sundays from 9-9:45am starting THIS SUNDAY, September 18th
Adventure: Equip is how Adventure of Faith Church seeks to continue the tradition of prioritizing biblical literacy, practical theology, and spiritual practices like the early church. These are Sunday morning classes that focus on helping followers of Jesus to grow in their understanding of the Bible, doctrine, theology, and practice. They are participatory courses done in biblical community. From those just beginning their adventure with Jesus to those who have traveled far with Him, there is a place for you, and we hope you'll join us as we pursue Jesus together.
There will be four classes in this fall session that runs from September 18th through November 20th.
- “Cairn: Guiding the Way” led by Kim Young and Cory Wiliamson
- “Join the Adventure, Covenant Partnership Class” led by Tish Homes
- “Alpha” (Youth/Young-Adult class) led by Jesse & Annika McCord Frey
- “5.14, The Distinguished Word” led by Fred Parr
Wondering about Kids and this Adventure:Equip time?

Adventure hosts Family Kitchen!
Friday, September 23rd at 5 pm
Family Kitchen meals are available the last two Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays of each month at First Lutheran Community Church at 5 pm. If you, or someone you know, is in need of a meal, please consider stopping by to grab dinner (no questions asked!).
We Need YOUR Help!
For over 25 years we have partnered with local churches to provide dinner to anyone in the community free of charge. Even Covid didn't change that as we continued to provide to-go meals to anyone in need. This month Family Kitchen goes back to serving family style meals instead of grab-and-go boxes. It takes about 17 volunteers to make this happen between food prep and cooking, serving, packing leftovers, and cleaning. It sounds like a lot, but more hands make lighter work. Please prayerfully consider if you might be able to volunteer once a month or on a rotation to help serve our community in this way. The cooks come from 2-4, servers and clean-up crew come around 4:45, dinner is served promptly at 5, and the last person to leave is no later than 7pm. Please take a moment to sign up at the same link as food donations below.
We also rely on the generosity of our congregation in providing the food for each meal. Please take a moment to sign up to provide a part of this meal HERE. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry and our community in this way!
If you have any questions or need more information, please email Natalie.

Connection Sunday Reflection from Candice: | |
Thank you to everyone who came to Connection Sunday. I personally, as the Connection Director, loved seeing people connecting. As I looked over at the tables with ministries, I saw people engaging in conversation. There were smiles and laughter as adults, teens and children caught flying pancakes, ate snow cones, drank Senegalese tea, had different kinds of treats, sat at tables, ate together and jumped on bounce structures. It felt like family, because we are. Hearing back from ministry leaders, they were able to connect with people interested on joining on mission with them. It was beautiful. Even the weather was wonderful. I’m thankful we had this opportunity to come together, speak to ministry leaders about what God is doing in and through their ministries, have fun and connect! God is so good!
If you missed Connection Sunday and want to know more about what God is doing at Adventure, grab a Connections booklet on the front table at church on Sunday!

If you have stories of God's goodness from this past year, big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.
To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:
What Good have you witnessed recently?
What Good has God brought into your life?
What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?
