Introduction to the Book of James Sermon Series

We are about to launch into our first offshoot in our journey through Acts. As we come to the context in the narrative where a New Testament letter was written, we will pause in our journey and dig deeper into the God-given words for the first-century church at that time! In our first letter, we will be studying the Book of James, written by Jesus’ half-brother between Acts 10-12, addressing the call of the faithful Christ followers as they sought to live missional lives as Kingdom citizens in the world.

Sunday, November 10th:

Reading New Testament Letters

New Testament Letters, sometimes called Epistles, are short “books” written by the apostles to the early church which existed all over the ancient world. These books are not narratives where the lesson is hidden within the story. They are meant to be accessible and practical, but when we read them from a modern-day context, in a totally different culture, we must read them carefully and with Spirit-filled wisdom. Join us today as we start this conversation about how to read New Testament Letters.

Also: CJ encourages you to please bring your Bibles for this series!

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This Sunday in Adventure:Kids, The children will learn about Peter's vision in Acts 10, where God shows that Jesus is for everyone, regardless of background. Through the story of Cornelius and Peter, they'll see how God calls us to share the good news with all people.

Key Passage: For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. -1 Cor 12:12

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

Our vision for Trunk or Treat was a fun simple way to come together and share the light and love of Jesus on Halloween with our community. Over 1,000 people came and what a blessing it was to spend the rainy night doing what we envisioned and having so much fun in the process! A huge thank you to all our volunteers and those that donated candy!

God is Good!

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
