Wisdom Sermon Series

In the Bible there is this invisible creative force in the universe that guides people in how they should live. You can’t see it, just like you can’t see the wind, but it affects everything you do. The Hebrew word for this force is hokhmah, which is often translated as wisdom and it is an attribute of God demonstrated when He created the world. It is woven into the fabric of things and how they work in this world. When we make good, just, or wise decisions, we are tapping into this force, this hokhmah. During this series, we will continue to work through James chapter 3, now switching to a discussion on wisdom, this invisible force rooted in God Himself.

Sunday, May 25: Wisdom From Above

Wisdom begins with the “fear of the Lord” and works itself out in our lives as we are connected with Him through the power of the Holy Spirit. This week we will be looking at James’ instruction for living with wisdom, how to access it and how to live it out in our daily lives.

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This Sunday in Adventure:Kids, the kids will learn from 1 Thessalonians 4–5 that God calls us to live holy lives that reflect His love and bring Him honor. They’ll see that we are here to make much of Jesus by loving others, staying faithful, and finding hope in His promised return.

Key Passage: "Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago." - Isaiah 25:1

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

Adventure:Equip

Sunday at 9:00am

Adventure: Equip is how we seek to dig in further to learning and practicing what we believe. These classes aim to prioritize understanding the Word, our theological beliefs, and spiritual practices. Our aim is not just to understand more, but study together and practice alongside one another so that our lives can be transformed. From those just beginning their adventure with Jesus to those that have traveled far with Him, there is a place for you here as we seek to be more like Jesus and become a stronger Biblical community. Find the Spring session classes offered HERE! Questions? Email Us!

Missions in May!

Wednesdays at 5:45pm

Just a couple more weeks of this Session of BaseCamp before we head into summer, but get excited there's fun stuff in store these last two weeks and we're looking ahead to some summer hang outs! Need more BaseCamp details, visit HERE!

This Week at Missions in May at BaseCamp:

This week is our Off-Site Night! Groups have been planning this final night of Missions in May for weeks, thinking about who and where in our community we can love on those in our mission fields. So this Wednesday we are heading out to help care for others with service projects, or some groups have plans to make something that evening that will help spread the love in the future. If you regularly attend BaseCamp make sure to check in your group to see what they've planned. If you are joining last minute, there will be some opportunities here at the church. Our Adventure Youth are still meeting at the church to eat dinner together and help with a mission project!

Dinner for Off-Site Night!

Many groups have decided to do dinner on their own, but if you signed up for box dinners they will be available to pick up at the church starting at 5pm. There will be allergen free versions for those of you who have communicated specific food allergies. If you didn't get a chance to sign up, but still need a box dinner, email Sam.

Celebration Sunday

Sunday, June 1st

On Celebration Sunday we will pause as a church family from our regularly scheduled sermons in order to testify about what we’ve seen and heard in the life of our church. We will celebrate what God is doing in our church and in individuals as we rejoice with people as they receive the sacrament of baptism, as we participate in communion together, and as we celebrate our High School Graduates!

We also hope you will plan to join us after service as we continue the celebration in the Friendship Center, we'll continue celebrating those who were baptized, our Grads, have space to talk about some things we've seen and heard God doing in the last year, and eat cake! We can't wait to share alongside you in all God is doing in our lives, in our congregation, and in our community!

Youth Summer Camp Fundraiser Update

We’re excited to share that we’ve raised almost $5,500 to help send our Youth to Summer Camp, happening June 28 to July 1. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed. Your generosity is making a real impact.

There’s still time to get involved. Visit the “Choose Your Own Adventure” wall in the foyer, select an envelope, and make a donation of your choosing. You can also join us for Bingo at BaseCamp on June 4. All proceeds from extra bingo cards sold will go directly to the camp fund. Prefer to give online? Head to the GIVE page on our website and choose “Donations to Youth Summer Camp” from the fund dropdown menu.

Let’s keep the momentum going and help every student experience summer camp this year!

Adventure Finances

You may notice that our expenses were much higher for the month of April. April and October are more expensive months for the church. We pay property taxes and insurance in these months, which are much larger bills. We also have our normal bills and Holy Week expenses that came out in April. However, we are grateful for how God provides!! Although giving was down for the month of April too, we have had enough to pay bills and keep doing the things God has called us to do!

We seek to be transparent at Adventure with our expenses. If you have any questions or would like to know more please feel free to contact Candice Brady at Candice. She would love to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for the ways you all support the mission of Adventure through your time, talent, and treasure. Let's keep doing this together!

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

This week's God is Good moment is from Jennifer Young, our Outreach Director:

On Wednesday we were blessed to have another fantastic local outreach night at Basecamp. Twenty seven different organizations from inside our church and in our community gathered to share what God is doing in our neighborhood and how we at Adventure can support and come alongside them to do Kingdom work. It was awesome to see how God is using different avenues for spreading His love to people. Connections were made, laughs were shared and of course bellies were full from delicious food from our friends at Harbor Haute Dogs and Lone Star Donuts. Thank you to everyone who came and participated!

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
