Summer Sabbath Sermon Series

Each Summer, we take one month as a church to Sabbath from our typical rhythms of church life. We press pause on the sermon series we are doing and reorient our hearts and minds on the Lord through rest in Him. We pare down our worship services, various ministries, meetings, and training opportunities to create space for our church family to rest, reorient, and refocus on the Lord. It isn’t about merely taking a break; it’s about trusting in the Lord. It’s about celebrating Him, who He is, and what He’s done. It is an opportunity to remind ourselves that He is in control, and it is our greatest desire and greatest joy to submit to Him and His Lordship in our lives

Sunday, July 6th: Flesh and Blood

This week Pastor CJ is going to share a sort of obscure section in the book of John that he has found quite challenging recently. Jesus teaches the disciples about how he is the “Bread of Life” and the group of disciples responded to this teaching in two different ways. Join us in our first Summer Sabbath sermon rooted in John chapter 6 and stay for the short family meeting afterwards.

Summer Sabbath Resources

For Summer Sabbath we have some different resources available. Check out the Summer Sabbath Calendar with ways to engage the season, our updated Resource Wall with books that remind us of Sabbath in different ways, a Prayer Model packet with different types of prayer to try, plus our Daily Prayers which include prompts this month for us to try. Find all of these things in the main foyer at church, and ask any questions at the Welcome Center!

Adventure:Kids News

Family Worship & Faithfulness

A reminder that this Sunday is Family Worship. While the kids in kindergarten and up are upstairs in worship, our preschoolers will continue their lessons focusing on the Fruit of the Spirit. This week they will be learning about FAITHFULNESS.

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Our Adventure:Kids team is in a unique situation right now. Quite a few of our faithful volunteers need to step away from actively serving on the Adventure:Kids team at this time. As we send teen volunteers off to college, grant space for rest for those who are in need, and support others as they step into new positions serving the church, we ask for you to please be in prayer with us.If you’ve felt God prompting you to consider joining the Adventure:Kids team, we would love to chat with you about what it means to be on the team, what the commitments are, and answer any of your questions.

Youth Summer Sessions

Join us for Adventure Youth Summer Sessions, a series of relaxed summer hang outs for youth. We will meet from 6pm to 8pm on the following Wednesdays: July 16, August 6, August 20, and September 3.

Each night is a time to connect, eat dinner, and spend time together. Some nights will be at church and others may be offsite. We'll share more details soon.

Let's Do Lunch

Thursday, July 17th, 11:30am-1:30pm at Uncle Dave's Diner

This group is for older adults to enjoy conversation, deepening relationships, delicious food, and sharing together! This gathering allows more time than the, "Hi, I am fine, good to see you," exchanges that so often occur before and after services.

We are headed to Uncle Dave's Diner again for their rib sticking, generous portions of just good food. Space will fill up quickly. Please RSVP to Marilyn Vivian by 3:00pm on 7/14/25. Text/call 360-443-2206, or email Marilyn.

VBS 2025: A Kingdom Like No Other

Thursday, July 24th - Sunday, July 27th

WHAT: VBS is a fun-filled time for kids to learn more about who God is.

We do this by bringing the Bible to life with skits, hands on activities,

high-energy games, interesting experiments, upbeat songs, and cool crafts!

WHEN: Thursday, July 24th - Saturday, July 26th 9:00am-12:00pm

& Sunday, July 27th 10:00am-12:00pm

All families are invited to join us for day 4 of VBS! This will be a special Sunday VBS takeover where people of all ages will get to experience the fun of VBS, see our kids lead us in worship, and participate in activities and treats at the playground.

WHO: Kids ages 4 years old-5th grade. We would also like to invite any recently graduated 5th graders to join us one last time for VBS.

*Children must be potty trained please.

VBS PURPOSE: Reach the unchurched, teach basic and approachable scripture to those who might not hear it elsewhere, be a natural entry point for people to get connected to our church, give leadership opportunities for those of all ages, celebrate spiritual gifts in others, and many more!

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Prayerfully consider who to invite to VBS. If you have kids, include them in this process. Our goal is for VBS guests to have a familiar face to connect with. Think of those in your mission field who don’t have a church to call home. Consider how you can assist and potentially remove any barriers (offer to help with transportation, consider volunteering so that parents know an adult in the building, assist them with registering). Connect with that family for a personal invitation (i.e. not a big Facebook blast to your newsfeed). Be in prayer for our VBS team.

August 2nd: Grief Share Surviving the Loss of a Spouse Starts

Don't worry if you haven't heard of some of these yet...

put them on your radar and know more details are coming!

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

This God is Good moment is shared from Barbara C:

God has given us such a blessing in Emmanuel's Clothes Closet. We've had some beautiful clothes come in recently. And we've had people who have come in to receive the clothes also receive the blessing bags that were made at the BaseCamp offsite night. Not only do we get to fill a need, but we get to bless them in other ways too. It is a wonderful feeling to share God's blessings with those that come.

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
