A Humble Witness Sermon Series

When Peter returns from Caesarea and the site of the Gentile Pentecost, he is not welcomed to Jerusalem with celebration and excitement, but by accusation and questioning. Peter does not try to argue or debate with his accusers. Instead, he humbly bears witness to what he’s seen and heard and nothing more. He tells the story and asks the question, “Who am I to stand in God’s way?” In this series, we will look at the importance of humility in embracing our role as witnesses to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sunday, September 29th: The Verdict

How will the Jerusalem accusers respond to Peter’s account? Will they find it unbelievable? Will they choose not to embrace this new understanding of God and His Kingdom? Join us this week as we look at the verdict in Peter’s mini-trial about the Gentile Pentecost.

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This Sunday in Adventure:Kids, The kids will learn about Stephen, who boldly shared his faith even when falsely accused and killed for it. They will explore how Jesus told his followers that they would face persecution, but through Him, they can find strength and hope in any hardship.

Key Passage: "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." - Isaiah 53:5

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

Adventure: Equip Fall Session

Sundays 9:00-9:45am

Adventure: Equip is how we seek to dig in further to learning and practicing what we believe. These classes aim to prioritize understanding the Word, our theological beliefs, and spiritual practices. Our aim is not just to understand more, but study together and practice alongside one another so that our lives can be transformed. From those just beginning their adventure with Jesus to those that have traveled far with Him, there is a place for you here as we seek to be more like Jesus and become a stronger Biblical community.

There are five classes you can participate in this Fall Session, a kids class and four classes for adults and teens. CHECK OUT THE DETAILS FOR FALL CLASS OPTIONS HERE! Questions? Email Us!

Covenant Partnership Retreat

October 11th-12th

Have you considered becoming a Covenant Partner at Adventure? Or do you want to dig in more to what it means to be one, even if you are already? Come join us for our Covenant Partner Retreat the from 5:30-8:00pm on Friday, October 11th and from 9:00am-2:00pm on Saturday, October 12th. This retreat replaces the previous Adventure:Equip class and is an opportunity to become a Covenant Partner, but everyone is welcome and invited... we can always learn more about the church body we participate in. We will be looking at what membership to a church really looks like (hint: it's more than a club membership!). We'll be getting to know our denomination, ECO, and our essential tenets. And of course, there will be lots of delicious food and fellowship opportunities. There is no cost, but we will need to know if you plan to join us. If you have questions, please contact Amanda Burns.

Don't worry if you haven't heard of some of these yet...

put them on your radar and know more details are coming!

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

This week's God is Good moment is shared from Debi Matheson (one of our Elders and in this case, a volunteer in the nursery Sunday morning):

"Last Sunday, one of our little guys arrived in the nursery, kinda grumpy not wanting his Mom to go, he turned and saw me, I held out my arms, he held out his arms and came in for a big hug. I danced around with him for a bit then he slept in my arms through the entire sermon (sorry CJ). That moment of connection, the trust he had knowing this is my safe, Jesus place. I have thought about that moment several times this week and smiled.

Love my nursery buddies."

God is Good!

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
