Fire Sermon Series

“How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!” James warns us that the words that pour from our mouths can be horribly destructive to our lives and those around us. The words we use reveal the condition of our hearts. How do we control our tongues? How do we repair what has been destroyed by our words? Join us for this series where we look at James’ warning and advice concerning our words.

Sunday, May 11: Ashes

The devastation left in the wake of an inferno can seem like death, but we follow a Savior who has overcome death and provided a means to reconciliation even in the worst of situations. Through Christ, we can be reconciled to God and to one another. We are also called to extend that forgiveness, that opportunity for reconciliation, to those who have damaged us as well. Join us this week as we talk about the amazing opportunity the Gospel provides for beauty to truly come from ashes.

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This week in Adventure:Kids, the kids will learn how Paul trusted God during a dangerous storm at sea and encouraged others to do the same, knowing God would keep His promise to protect them. Just as God rescued Paul and the sailors, we are reminded that Jesus came to rescue us from sin and death, and we’re invited to trust Him and share that good news with others.

Key Passage: "Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago." - Isaiah 25:1

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

Adventure:Equip

Sunday at 9:00am

Adventure: Equip is how we seek to dig in further to learning and practicing what we believe. These classes aim to prioritize understanding the Word, our theological beliefs, and spiritual practices. Our aim is not just to understand more, but study together and practice alongside one another so that our lives can be transformed. From those just beginning their adventure with Jesus to those that have traveled far with Him, there is a place for you here as we seek to be more like Jesus and become a stronger Biblical community. Find the Spring session classes offered HERE! Questions? Email Us!

Sedgwick Community Clean-Up

Saturday, May 10th from 9:00am -12:00pm

During the month of May, we focus on missions, including meaningful ways we can serve our local community. As part of this effort, we’re inviting our youth and anyone who would like to join to a Community Cemetery Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 10 at 9AM to 12PM at Sedgwick Cemetery in Port Orchard. We will be clearing brush, trimming overgrowth, and removing fallen branches to help care for and preserve this historic resting place. It is a great way to give back, work together, and live out our calling to serve others. Bring work gloves, yard tools if you have them, and a heart ready to help! If you have questions, please contact Tara Haag.

Muffins for Moms

Sunday, May 11th, after Service

Mother's Day is Sunday, May 11th and we want to take a moment to celebrate all of the special moms in our lives! Adventure:Kids will be hosting a Muffins for Moms event after church in the Cafe and Courtyard (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to stop by, grab a muffin, and remind our moms at Adventure of Faith how much they are loved!

BaseCamp is Partnering with Outreach for

Missions in May!

Wednesdays at 5:45pm

Most of these evenings will look like our typical BaseCamp evenings, with assigned tables, good conversation, delicious dinner, and some sharing about how God is working through different areas of Outreach ministries! After dinner we'll have discussion time for adults, games for kids, and youth group activities for teens! (We'll tell you about any changes to the evening schedule when we get to them!)

Join us each week as we dig into areas of Outreach at Adventure like Mazatlan, Senegal, Local Outreach, and our Offsite Night (focused on putting our outreach into practice!). Need more BaseCamp details, visit HERE for info and registration!

Next Wednesday, May 14th, is our Senegal focused night!

Dinner will be what our travel teams are often served when we stay at John Huffman school: a flavorful random dinner of cooked veg, delicious chicken, french fries, Senegalese caramelized onions to smother everything with, and french bread with laughing cow cheese. Then teams would head to town for sorbet or gelato for dessert (so sorbet is on the menu)! We will have allergen free versions for those of you who have communicated specific food allergies.

Let's Do Lunch Field Trip

Thursday, May 15th, 11:30am-2:00pm

This group is for older adults to enjoy conversation, deepening relationships, delicious food, and sharing together! This gathering allows more time than the, "Hi, I am fine, good to see you," exchanges that so often occur before and after services.

First time field trip! We will be driving individually or in small groups, to Poulsbo to the Valley Nursery to enjoy their large selection of spring flowers and plants. This nursery has acres to wander through, as well as a gift shop that offers a wide selection of gardening accessories. Everyone can explore at their own pace and when ready, select a location to enjoy lunch, but in small groups. A list of local restaurants will be included in the email that will be sent to each of you, but don't feel limited by just the list. We'd love for you to join us! For questions to be added to the email list: Text/call 360-443-2206, or email Marilyn.

Men's Breakfast

Saturday, May 24th, 8:00am-10:00am

Come as you are and enjoy a warm breakfast and coffee. All men are invited for food, fellowship, and discussion. Join us at 8:00am so we can begin our day together and be encouraged and connected. If you have any questions, please reach out to Charles Greene.

Calling all those graduating High School this year!

Are you graduating high school soon? Or do you know or have a high school grad that is connected to our church? We'd love to celebrate them! We're planning ahead to celebrate our grads and want to make sure we've included everyone. Please email Callie by May 25th to let us know!

Youth Summer Camp is approaching and we are excited to be able to send our youth to a place where they get dedicated time to connect with God and connect with one another. Check out the "Choose Your Own Adventure" Youth Fundraiser board set up in the main foyer for info on how you can support our teens! Details for camp and registration are coming soon!

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

This week's God is Good moment is brought to you by Sam:

What a beautiful thing it was during last Sunday's Next Gen worship time to see our congregation of all ages not only singing praise but joining in the joy of the hand motions together. It was worshipful to me to see such freedom, joy, encouragement, and participation during our new song. Thank you for being a part of our church family, and making it feel just like that... a family that can worship so freely together. Enjoy this little video I snuck from the stage. :)

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
