Escape! Sermon Series

The movement in the early church had moved beyond the confines of Judaism with the Holy Spirit falling upon gentile believers.  Now, the early church faces persecution not only from the Jewish rulers but from secular authorities.  Through increased persecution, the church experiences unparalleled protection, provision, and power from the Lord.  This interlude in the narrative of Acts may seem like a strange story interrupting the story, but it is, in fact, a strong encouragement for modern-day disciples as they face the persecutions of our day.

Sunday, October 5: Witnessing

Throughout the Biblical narrative, women have played a key role in bearing witness to the movement of God. God chose those who were disrespected, dismissed, and denigrated in the culture to be those who would bear witness to the work He was doing in the world. Bearing witness was not only a passive reality, but an active one in that witnessing is only half the equation; the other half is sharing that with all who would listen. Join us this week as we look at how God uses Rhoda, a servant girl, to have ears that hear and eyes that see the work of the Spirit in Acts chapter 12.

Daily Prayers, Digging Deeper Guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

This Sunday in Adventure:Kids is Family Worship. While kids in kindergarten and older will stay upstairs for the service, our preschoolers and younger will head downstairs. We are starting a new unit this month: Names of God. This month the focus is on God as our Creator.

Oh come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker! Psalm 96:6

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure:Kids Facebook page, OR click here for a pdf version.

And of course, there will be lots of delicious food and fellowship opportunities. There is no cost, but we will need to know if you plan to join us. This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

It’s hard to sum up in a few words all the experiences of our recent trip with Go On the Mission to Guatemala and how I saw God working.

It was a large team from several churches so there was a lot of connection and relationship building first with the team and then with the Hope ministries staff in San Antonio Aguas Calientes. They are living out the love of Jesus in many ways to the children, families and community. A highlight for me was the 3 days of home visits and the families openness to share their struggles and vulnerabilities and praying with them was very meaningful. We also delivered food bags-but the spiritual nourishment and encouragement was the true need. It made it easier for me to also share openly when speaking to the moms group we hosted. Many connections were made, prayers prayed and I look forward to seeing how God continues to work in these areas in the future. -Christyn

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
