Words of a Dying Man

Jesus

When Stephen was accused, his persecutors accused “this man” as being too much like “this Jesus” who blasphemed the Temple and the Torah. In this week’s passage, Stephen builds a connection between “this Jesus,” and “this Stephen” and “this Moses” who he makes clear was rejected by their ancestors since the beginning. Unfortunately throughout history God’s people can find themselves in the position of rejecting God just as their ancestors have. As Stephen continues to teach us how to read and interpret the Scriptures, he reminds us that it is with humble spirits that we must read the Scriptures and seek to live in light of them.

Daily Prayers, a Digging Deeper guide and coordinating Life Group Curriculum are available each week on Sunday to further explore this Sermon Series. You can find those resources (for this week and ALL previous weeks) HERE or at the Welcome Center on Sunday.

Adventure:Kids News

We are so glad to have your kids in 5th grade and below join us for Adventure:Kids this Sunday! This Sunday in Adventure:Kids, the kids will be learning about another aspect of early encounters with Jesus with this week’s lesson titled, “People Were Amazed By Jesus”.  They will be reading a section of Luke 4 when Jesus performs a couple of miracles. We are reminded that Jesus' miracles proved that he is the Messiah, and that his miracles strengthened people’s faith and met their needs. And, that through Jesus, God provided us forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life, which would be impossible for us to do on our own.

We'd love to have you work with your child on memorizing our new key passage, which is Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

Sermon notes and challenges for families are available on the Adventure: Kids Facebook page,

OR click here for a pdf version.

Celebration Sunday!

Sunday, June 4th

On Celebration Sunday we will pause as a church family from our regularly scheduled sermons in order to testify about what we’ve seen and heard in the life of our church. We will celebrate that which God is doing in our church and in individuals as we rejoice as people receive the sacrament of baptism and all of us participate in communion. We will celebrate our High School Graduates, hear some stories from people whose lives are being impacted by the Lord and we will speak together about what we’ve seen and heard!

With that in mind, we would like to encourage you to submit your God-stories so they can be included in this celebration. SO: If you have stories of God's goodness from this past year, big or small please email Sam.

We also hope you will join us after service as we continue the celebration in the Friendship Center with cake for our grads!

We can't wait to share alongside you in all God is doing in our lives, in our congregation, and in our community!

Adventure:Equip Spring Session

Join a Class every Sunday through June from 9am-9:45am

Adventure: Equip is how Adventure of Faith Church seeks to continue the tradition of prioritizing biblical literacy, practical theology, and spiritual practices like the early church. These are Sunday morning classes that focus on helping followers of Jesus to grow in their understanding of the Bible, doctrine, theology, and practice. They are participatory courses done in biblical community.

There's still time to jump into a new class! Check out the class descriptions and info for our Spring Session HERE!

From those just beginning their adventure with Jesus to those who have traveled far with Him, there is a place for you, and we hope you'll join us as we pursue Jesus together.

Adventure Finances

If you're interested in current church finances, see our April graphic included above here.

Adventure of Faith is a very generous community of believers.

I know this because whenever we communicate a need, we meet it.

Q - How can I financially support Missions at Adventure of Faith Church?

A -There are lots of different missions that Adventure family members support.

Some of them are funded through the regular church budget: Emmanuel's Clothes Closet, Senegal ministry, Pastor Abdou Fall in Kaffrine... You can contribute to these with your regular Adventure (General Fund) giving.

Others receive support through projects and events at Adventure: One for One, Family Kitchen, Adventure Awakens Cafe, the Outreach Store, the annual Chili Cook-Off... You can contribute to these by giving specifically for that ministry.

And others are fully supported outside of Adventure: Go on the Mission trips & sponsorships, OHannah House, Operation Christmas Child... You can contribute to these directly through their organizations.

If you have questions about any of these Missions, please contact:

Marcia (Emmanuel's Clothes Closet)

Deacons - One for One, Family Kitchen, Community support

Tanya (Mazatlan) - Adventure Awakens Cafe, Mazatlan mission trips

Judy (Global) - Senegal, Outreach Store, Pastor Abdou, Senegal mission trips

Megan (GO on the Mission) - Mission trips, sponsorships

Russ (OHannah House Ministries)

Carla (Operation Christmas Child)

Next week I'll answer another financial question.

Please continue to send your Adventure-related financial questions to me at: [email protected]

Make sure to visit Adventure Awakens Cafe

& the Outreach Store on Sunday!

Adventure Awakens Cafe is open from 8:30-10:05am & 11:00-11:30am. Don't worry if you haven't heard of some of these yet...

put them on your radar and know more details are coming!

This section is a weekly reminder that God is Good!

He is good to us every single day & we will praise His name!

This space in the newsletter is a small way we continue to celebrate the goodness of God all year long, and practice being aware of His presence in our lives. So, if you have stories of God's goodness big or small, hit reply to this email and send them our way. We would love to hear them, pray in praise over them and talk to you about sharing them.

To spur your thoughts to God's goodness start by asking yourself these questions:

What Good have you witnessed recently?

What Good has God brought into your life?

What Good has God prompted you to do for one another?

God is Good!!
