2026 Dirty Trail Series

Meet Melissa and Zander!

Dirty Snowflake will be Melissa and Zander’s first trail race together. This mother-son team began running in 2025, as a way to connect before schedules and distance take over — Zander has enlisted in the U.S. Army and will head to basic training in August.

Trail running adds something special for both of them. For Zander, it builds strength and focus as he works toward his goal of becoming an Army Ranger. For Melissa, recently named the 2025 Ohio Endurance Series Female Athlete of the Year, it’s a chance to introduce her son to a part of running she truly loves.

They are thankful for Western Reserve Racing and the trail community for creating races that meet runners where they are — whether that’s pushing hard, learning something new, or simply showing up together.
