Bringing love home for over 40 years!
January/February 2021
Issue 90
From Our Director

Happy New Year! 2021 is here!! If you are like me, 2020 seems like the longest year we have ever experienced. In many ways, the month of March just kept repeating itself over and over again. As challenging a year as 2020 was for many of us, it has been a blessing to know God has been right here with us the entire time. In many ways ministerially, Christian Adoption Services may have had its best year ever!!!

Here are a few of the highlights:

1.    God led CAS to merge officially with the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, which will make CAS stronger and help broaden our reach to fulfill our mission at an even greater capacity in the future.
2.    CAS moved our main office to Indian Trail, North Carolina in April, which will help us have smoother transition for all of our court cases in North Carolina for adoptions.
3.    We are on track to close this calendar year with almost 40 adoptions in North and South Carolina, which will be the most since I came to CAS in 2016.
4.    We opened up a fifth office location in Conway, South Carolina to minister to expectant moms in the Eastern and Southern part of the Carolinas.
5.    Our fundraising has been spectacular with the partnership of almost 50 churches, completion of five golf events and four banquets, highlighted by the $201,000 received at the Charlotte banquet in March.

As you can see, CAS did not slow down at all in 2020! All glory to God for His protection in allowing all these things and many more to happen in an unprecedented year for all of us. I can also tell you that many of the things above would not have become reality without your prayers and support this year. Thanks so much to our CAS family for being such a blessing during a year that none of us will ever forget! Now, as we move forward into a new year, what lies ahead in 2021? Who knows for sure, but I can tell you that CAS is ready and excited for whatever challenges come our way as we stand upon God’s Word and live out James 1:27 every day.

A special thanks goes to all those who gave to the Angel Fund, our year-end giving campaign. I continue to be blown away by your generosity and support of CAS which is touching so many lives in the Carolinas and the world. As of December 31st, we have exceeded our goal of $60,000 and are now sitting at over $96,000!! What a blessing – we are very thankful for God’s continued blessings to CAS as we enter our 42nd year of ministry.

I hope each of you has a safe and blessing-filled new year! I can’t wait to share more with you in the future of how God is using this ministry to further His Kingdom with expectant moms, children in need, and families stepping up to God’s call to adopt. Happy New Year and may God bless each of us in the CAS family in 2021.

In Christ,
Kevin Qualls

Save The Date
Charlotte Benefit Banquet
Thursday, March 11th @ First Baptist Church Indian Trail
Charlotte friends, save the date for March 11th...we are excited to host you at our annual benefit banquet, designed to ensure your safety and comfort. We will gather at First Baptist Indian Trail, in two different seatings, to enjoy dinner and an amazing adoption story. COVID protocols will be in place, including limited seating, so be ready to secure your spot when registration opens on February 1st. The benefit banquet in Charlotte is our biggest fundraiser of the year and provides critical funding that allows CAS to help vulnerable children and expectant women find a hand to hold. We hope you will plan now to join us and be a part of this ministry.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.   Isaiah 41:10

In Loving Memory
In 2017, Christian Adoption Services acquired Christian Family Services (CFS) as we began serving families in South Carolina. Ray Veckruise was one of the founders of CFS and passed away on November 15th, 2020. Below is more information on Ray and his family.

"Jesus loves you, whoever you are!" That is how Ray Veckruise greeted folks when they called him. Jesus called Ray home on November 15, 2020, at the age of 102; a long life lived for Jesus. He went peacefully after a period of declining physical health.

Please keep Jean in your prayers. She will miss her beloved Ray, as we all will!
