Welcome to the 2nd Quarter of the Year!
First Day Smiles...
Just Yesterday or
45 School Days Ago?
It might seem like yesterday, it might seem much, much longer to some; but, the calendar and our little learners, who count each school day, tell us it has been 45 school days!

Looking back we have logged in many workbook pages, worksheets, projects, essays, labs, STEM activities; but more importantly many smiles, memorable moments, events, and a ton of joy and laughter! I invite you to take a few minutes to visit the Student Life Gallery and the links below to see just how much a school filled with children as amazing as ours can accomplish in one quarter, or 45 days, or close to 16,000 minutes!
"Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure." Saint John Paul II
Congratulations to Lela-Desta and Damien for having their Saint projects selected for presentation at mass! 7th graders traditionally select their confirmation name and research the saint they will be named after when they make their confirmation the following year. Lela-Desta chose Our Blessed Mother, Mary; Damien selected the protector of the Church, St. Michael, the Archangel, who we pray to each morning! We applaud all the 7th graders for their outstanding work on this project!
Stepping into the Lives of Saints
As we entered the month of November, our fifth graders began presenting their "Stepping into the Lives of Saints" projects. Each fifth grader selected a saint they were interested in learning more about. They researched their saint, wrote an essay about their life, why they chose that saint and how they could follow in their saint's footsteps. The second part of the project was to create a board as their "costume" so they could step into the life of their saint and share details and interesting facts about the saint's life in first person. Be sure to visit the Student Life Gallery for more pictures of their extraordinary work!
WHICH BUDDY PAIR WILL
WIN THE TURKEY TROT?

We are putting a fun twist on our Thanksgiving Food Drive with the Buddy Turkey Trot. Each buddy pairing of classes will name their turkey, the turkeys will begin at the starting line and for every 5 nonperishable food items brought in by the buddy pairings, their Turkey will advance on the Turkey Trail! Winner is the Turkey who crosses the finish line or gets closest by Friday, November 19th!
We Are Off With a Running Start!
Dear St. Rose Families,

Welcome to the second quarter of the 2021-2022 school year! Looking back at the long list of activities, events, and many accomplishments in the classrooms, one would not guess we are in our third school year of a pandemic! Extra reason to celebrate these first 45 days; and celebrate we will on Monday, November 15 as we mark the passing of the 50th day of school (the 50th day is actually November 11 but we are postponing the dress down day and celebration out of respect for our Veteran's Day Assembly on the 11th)! The 16th will of course be a 50s style celebration so it's time to comb through the closets and drawers at your house and help your child get their outfit ready!

When we say we are off to a running start in the second quarter, we aren't kidding! This year we are having an inaugural Turkey Trot Food Drive! See details in this newsletter!

Beyond the Classroom - Service and Fun
COATS AND CANDY are Spilling Out of Boxes in the Hallway and Classrooms!
Your support and generosity has not gone unnoticed and it is so appreciated! As we approach the end of the second week of the Knights of Columbus Coat Drive, we are seeing boxes brimming with coats that will keep many warm this coming winter!

On Wednesday, the box we had ready for candy donations, quickly filled up and we know that when these sweet treats are shared, they will bring many smiles to the recipients!

You can continue to send in candy and coats through Friday.
Future Food Network Stars Started Their Journey on Wednesday!

Pizza and Pizza Burritos were on the menu.

The delicious smells from their creations wafted through the air; I think those in the building for our busy afternoon were hoping a pizza food truck had pulled up outside. Hmmm, who knows, we might be on to new ventures for after school! Nothing would surprise us with the ideas our children come up with during the day!
Late fall activities are underway with Team DIG; and our boys and girls basketball, as well as cheer has started their practice schedule. Check back for stories and pictures of activities keeping our students engaged
on the court and field during November!
A Few More Noteworthy Bits 'n Pieces Before You Go!
This week we attended mass on Monday for the Feast of All Saints. Friday, during our regular mass time, the buddy groups will be gathering to work on service projects. Grades K, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 will be working on Turkey Napkin Rings, Thanksgiving Prayers and Cards for our friends at Church Hill Village; they will also be making Thank You Cards for Veterans. Grades 1 and 5 will be filling Boxes of Joy with Christmas items, toys, and supplies for children to receive at Christmas time. Our 4th graders will be busy making goody bags from the 100 pounds of candy that was donated in our candy drive. These will be sent to Faith Food Pantry to go with food donations for the holidays. 4th grade will meet with their little buddies next week to work on Turkey Napkin Rings, Prayers, and Cards.
