Happy Fall Y'All!

I couldn't resist opening with that; seeing the leaves floating through the air as they do their annual letting go dance, and in the past few days, what might have looked to be a dull autumn in color, seemed to have been touched by the hands of a master artist. As we know one needs to be patient when it comes to creating something spectacular; the greatest of artists know when the paintbrush should come out and the bright vibrant color palette put to use. The sunshine these past days, trees ablaze in reds and oranges on the edges with the promise of more color in the upcoming weeks gives one a burst of energy and hope; and we know our Master Artist is at work in His creation. Yet one doesn't need to venture outside the walls of our school; God's love has helped us build a community where we see the signs and excitement of fall throughout our halls in the work of our children. You will see throughout October some of the most colorful and creative ways they bring joy with the work of their hands.

Just as the trees have burst into color, our year has taken off and we arrive in October with a calendar full of school spirit and activity. Of course first we have this weekend sandwiched between an early dismissal and day off; a child's dream and a wonderful opportunity for apple picking, outdoor fun, and fall decorating. Next week, we look forward to our annual Pumpkin Bowl (see flyer later in this newsletter). This is always a day of excitement and celebration as our Class of 2024 will take the field as Team Capri Sun vs. Team Kool-aid in a game of Flag Football. Our whole family, from the youngest to the oldest (not it;) gather to cheer them on. We hope that our parents will join us for the afternoon; we've reserved space for you in the "stands".

The next day, October 13th, brings our much anticipated Student Council speeches and election in our Middle School. Once officers are in place, we will have class representative elections in the primary and intermediate grades. This year we will have a day designated each month for our Student Council and grade level representatives to work together after school on projects, service, and surprises for our students.

Next Friday also begins Winter Uniforms. Please see the handbook for specific details. Please note that if we should have another heatwave come through, we will send an announcement as what changes can be made to accommodate the weather and keep the children comfortable. Please note that this was originally school picture day; however, this has been rescheduled to October 25.

The classroom boxes are starting to fill with coats and jackets for the Knights of Columbus Coat Drive. We will be collecting coats until October 27; the class donating the most coats will win a pizza party, compliments of the Knights. Of course we are all winners in knowing how many people will stay warm this winter hugged by one of the warm coats you donate.

Beyond that, we have basketball and cheer beginning; harvest festivals in the classrooms, our Halloween Parade, the HSA Trunk 'r Treat and much more learning fun and reasons to celebrate all that is fall!

As you enjoy the work of God's hand while out and about on your fall adventures; I wish you safe travels, miles of smiles, and a bushel full of memories.

Warmly,

Mrs. Mary Jo Bokuniewicz (Mrs. B)
