Dear St. Rose Community,
A full week of full days, after a long summer break and a few unexpected early dismissal days, isn't always easy to face; but, here we are with just one more day ahead. While we might all be heading towards the weekend, a little exhausted, our days were in fact full of learning, play, renewing and building friendships, and in the end, this all adds up to a week full of joy!
Given the choice of the "glass half empty or half full"; I think I would say that our glass is already half full just by having all our students gracing our classrooms and hallways. As we look at what is ahead in opportunities and experiences for our children, my prediction is our cup will be overflowing quickly with their accomplishments, spirit, and the blessings they bring to our days.
We are looking forward to an exciting basketball season; watch for more news about home games, let's fill the stands with SRS fans this season. If you'd rather be on the court playing for our teams; please note that registrations are due tomorrow (September 15).
On Monday Student Council Applications will be available for our middle schoolers. These will be due by Friday, September 22 to give our students time "to campaign".
With the surprise heatwave and torrential rain behind us, for now; our thoughts are focusing on autumn. We look forward to many celebrations centering around the beauty and blessings that fall brings our way. Of course we are all anticipating October when we have our annual Pumpkin Bowl. Our Class of 2024 will soon be selecting team names, and the excitement of friendly competition and cheering crowds on our field will be much closer.
Our after school activities are starting to fill up. Several programs have closed registration; but, don't forget there will be more opportunities to sign up later in the year. We are so happy to welcome Mr. Glen Budzinski back with his Chess Club. Chess has grown even more popular at St. Rose, especially with our 4th-6th graders. Please see the registration form, included today, to sign up for this club.
If you are interested in helping us bring more after school programs to our students, please contact me. We would also like to bring our After School Club back for our families; however, we are in need of two virtus trained adults to help us with the program. Please let me know if you are interested or know someone who might like to help.
We look forward to gathering with our parents next Thursday, September 21st, for our Back to School Night. The faculty and staff are eager to share with you our vision for the new school year and welcome you into the classrooms where your children spend their days. The evening will begin with a presentation from our HSA, who provides immeasurable support to our school, for which we give thanks every day.
We invite you to share in prayer and praise with us tomorrow at 9am mass. We realize that there are still some families waiting on uniforms, so we are going to allow our young men to wear shorts to mass this week. Beginning with next Friday's mass, we ask that all boys wear the long uniform pants.
Sending blessings on your weekend and the new week ahead.
Warmly,
Mrs. Mary Jo Bokuniewicz (Mrs. B)
Dean of Student Life
