ACTION ALERT: Add LPCs and LMFTs as Medicare Providers
Congress is currently considering legislation to fund the federal government.
Efforts are underway to add language from H.R. 3032 (John Katko, R.NY) to authorize LPCs and LMFTs as Medicare providers.
Action on the fiscal 2018 omnibus spending bill could be brought to the House floor this week.
There is still time to contact the Texas Congressional delegation and ask them to support inclusion of H.R. 3032.
Texas faces a HUGE mental health professional workforce shortage.

|
Adding LPCs and LMFTs as authorized providers under Medicare will help deliver services in the more than 194 underserved counties in Texas.
Your support is crucial in getting this legislation passed.
There are limited opportunities during each Congress to pass our Medicare legislation, so please make your voice heard. Thank you for your assistance!

From the TCA Wellness Committee: Spring Into Moving More!
Spring is almost here, which means warmer weather, blooming flowers, and longer days. This is the perfect time to get more active!
There are many benefits to moving more, which can include losing or maintaining weight, preventing heart disease, improving mood, boosting energy, and improving sleep.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise like brisk walking or 75 minutes of rigorous exercise like running (or an equivalent mix of both) every week. It’s fine to break up exercise into smaller sessions as long as each one lasts at least 10 minutes.
Here are a few ideas to get more movement into your day:
- Think about what exercise you might enjoy – is there a fun class or activity you might want to sign up for?
- Add some accountability through friends, family, or by hiring a personal trainer or health coach.
- Find ways to build movement into your day – take the stairs, walk to a coworker’s desk instead of sending an email, park farther away to add some extra walking.
- Make an appointment with yourself to exercise – put it on your calendar!
