The Arc New York to Present Oral Testimony at Senate Workforce Hearing
The New York State Senate Standing Committee on Disabilities is holding a public hearing to evaluate the current workforce challenges of the I/DD service delivery system. The Arc New York will present written testimony, and CEO Erik Geizer has been invited to provide oral testimony to the committee. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 10:00 AM in Van Buren Hearing Room A, Legislative Office Building, 2nd Floor, Albany, NY. More information can be found here.

National Disability Voter Registration Week
September 13-20, 2021 is National Disability Voter Registration Week (NDVRW), organized each year by the American Association of People with Disabilities’ REV UP Campaign.  

The turnout gap between people with and without disabilities narrowed in 2020, but there’s much more progress that must be made to ensure that our community is able to make their vote count! This is a critical week where we can keep the momentum going. 

The Arc US encourages all chapters of The Arc to get involved, sign up as a partner with NDVRW, and encourage their communities to get registered.

HCBS Funding: Your Voice
As Congress returns from their August recess, we HAVE TO KEEP THE PUSH GOING to convey the crucial importance of HCBS funding. The focus of this advocacy is for a $400 billion investment in Medicaid home and community-based services through the Better Care Better Jobs Act, as well as plans to better support the direct care workforce, improve paid leave programs for workers with disabilities and caregivers, and increase asset limits for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you haven't already done so, take a moment to email your representatives using our one-click advocacy tool, and share why HCBS matters to you on the Raise Our Voices for Care campaign.
