Last Chance to Get Your August Recess Swag Box!
Every year, both the House and Senate take a break from Washington D.C. and come back to their districts. As part of our campaign to support our DSP workforce, we are planning to meet with our representatives while they are at home. To aid in this endeavor, The Arc US is offering "Swag Boxes" to Chapters that they can use throughout their advocacy, both in person and online.

Swag boxes include 15 “Disability Rights are Human Rights” buttons, 10 face masks, and 15 “Disability Rights are Human Rights” bracelets. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis (one order per chapter) to support your advocacy efforts.

Step 1: Order your box by filling out this form. Boxes will arrive in early August. Make sure to sign up for the boxes by tomorrow, July 9 so they can get materials to your chapter.

Step 2: Share & Report. Send [email protected] any pictures, including things like selfies with advocates wearing their swag, screenshots of virtual meetings, or anything else you think is great. At the end of August, you will be asked to fill out a short reporting form to tell us about your August recess activities and how you used the materials.

We look forward to engaging with our federal representatives throughout the rest of the summer and into the fall, so get your Swag Box now!

Share The Arc New York Workforce Advocacy Campaign on Social Media
The Arc New York continues to move forward with our online advocacy campaign calling on our congressional representatives to support the Better Care Better Jobs Act (BCBJA) and our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This federal legislation is expected to include a major investment of $400 Billion for states to expand access to Medicaid home and community based services (HCBS) and addresses the decades-long workforce crisis and our current emergency.

As the campaign evolves, we are asking you to take an additional step and actively share the campaign through your professional and personal social media accounts and use the hashtag #CareCantWait. The more voices participate, the better we are heard!

The Arc US has created a companion campaign and resources focused on the broader points of the BCBJA. Additional resources for that campaign are below.

This and all advocacy updates are archived on The Arc New York website for future reference. Please contact us if you have questions regarding any of this information.
