The Arc Memo of Support for Durable Medical Equipment
The Arc New York sent a memo to Governor Hochul in support of legislation to require that Medicaid managed care organizations reimburse Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers at no less than 100% of the Medicaid fee for service DME rate for the same service or item. The legislation, S.8838-A (Rivera) and A.10576 (Lucas), passed both houses of the State Legislature and we urge it to be enacted into law.
Traveling with Dignity Act Awaits Governor’s Signature
State Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblyman Chris Burdick announced the passage of their “Traveling with Dignity Act” in both houses of the New York state Legislature and joined disability advocates in urging Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign the bill. The legislation would require height-adjustable adult changing tables in enclosed restrooms at public locations including roadside rest areas, museums, public libraries, public buildings and amusement attractions.
The bill was shaped by conversations with advocates and direct support professionals about accessibility challenges faced by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
The Arc New York and our NYDA coalition partners fully support this legislation.
