Tell Congress to Pass the Recognizing the Role of DSPs Act!

In July, the House Education and Labor Committee unanimously voted to advance the "Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act" (S.1332/ H.R. 2941) to the floor of the House for a vote! This moment of celebration comes as a result of your tireless advocacy in support of DSPs. Now that the bill has passed the Senate and this important hurdle in the House, we are closer than ever to push this important initiative across the finish line.

We encourage you to participate in our one-click campaign for the SOC to tell your representatives why recognizing DSPs is so important. You can find summary of the bill to assist with your message here.

Only 9 Days left! Get to a Lids Store in August—Enter Our Photo Contest!

For the month of August, Lids is championing our cause and boosting The Arc brand across their 1,000+ stores! You will see co-branded signage, our logo as a custom embroidery option, and donation round-up asks at the register, which will help sponsor programs and activities from The Arc of the United States.

  • Spread the word to drive traffic to your local Lids stores. Follow #LidsGives in August and share!
  • Organize a group outing to a Lids store. Get a new hat or jersey and add The Arc’s logo.
  • Join our photo contest and win prizes!
  • Build local connections. Use this as an opening with local store management for employment opportunities.

A couple items to note:

  1. If you are bringing a group to shop together, you may want to call ahead and let them know you’re coming as part of the partnership. Some of the Lids stores are small and that will help them prepare.
  2. The embroidery is high quality and takes a little time. Stores tend to have one embroidery machine, so depending on the volume of customers that want customization, you may have to wait.

Help us spread the word about our photo contest – no purchase necessary! Just get out to your Lids store and take a photo of you supporting this partnership! Prizes include an iPad, Beats noise canceling headphones, hats, & t-shirts.
