Week 3 of the Indiana General Assembly

The Indiana General Assembly was pushing hard to get bills through committee, especially given the abbreviated holiday week. Bills about the smoking age and hands-free devices were hotly debated.

ILF Advocacy in Week 3

While ILF did not testify on any bills this past week, the pace was fast. In Ways and Means Committee, HB1113, Department of Local Government , included many amendments, including to stretch property tax rebates over more years and to reallocate Local Income Tax (LIT ) in Hamilton County. SB131, National Motto , which would have required “In God We Trust” posters in classrooms and school libraries, was amended to be optional in response to cost concerns. I LF monitored may other bills related to ILF Policy Priorities . M embers may see ILF's bill list linked in the Bose Report .
