BIA San Diego Advocacy in Action

Advocacy You Should Know About

The City of San Diego has released a draft update to the Street Design Manual (SDM). City staff gave a presentation of the draft update at our February Urban Council meeting. We know our members have had challenges with the SDM, and we are currently working with members to review the draft update and provide comments to the City before hearings begin in the summer. Staff is also monitoring other planning projects, such as the 2025 Land Development Code update and Historic Reform. More updates will be provided on those projects as they become available.

The city council is currently pursuing updates to their General Plan and Climate Action Plan, water and sewer fee increases for new development, and reforms to the Planning Commission appeals process, all of which could have significant impacts to residential development in the city.
