How are Organs and Tissues Transported for Transplant?

Curious how organs are transported for transplant?

All local organs for transplant are accompanied by a certified courier and/or tracked using a monitoring device. It's important to keep a few facts in mind in how organs are transported:

The time donor kidneys remain viable outside the body allows for the use of commercial transport which helps control costs and keeps transplant accessible for more patients in need.
Though one potentially lifesaving organ going unused is too many, a very small number of kidneys, approximately 0.14% in the last five years nationally, have been compromised due to transportation issues.
Donor Alliance employs the use of kidney perfusion machines in the vast majority of cases which allow for remote monitoring of the organ.

Administrative: Equipment Testing and Organization

We are looking for 1-2 Advocates to come to our Denver- Spruce Street Office to help organize and test our quilt stands and organize materials as we prepare for 2025! This project can be completed anytime from Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm. The requested completion date for this project is December 2024. To sign up, click here.

Special Event: Festival of Lights Parade, Colorado Springs, CO

The 40th Annual Festival of Lights Parade is one of the most cherished holiday traditions in the Pikes Peak region. The parade is aired live on KKTV and rerun during the holiday season.
