The Grand Opening of Alora

Alora is a new affordable housing community located in the City of San Marcos offering 100 apartment homes for families and individuals earning 30 – 80% of the area median income (AMI), with one unit reserved for the on-site property manager. Residents have exclusive access to a community building that houses a pool, barbeque area and bike parking, as well as several tot lots located throughout the community. Residents of Alora also have access to complimentary, on-site services provided by Compass for Affordable Housing.

Dignitaries in attendance at the Grand Opening included San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones, San Marcos Deputy Mayor Sharon Jenkins, and San Marcos Councilmember María Nuñez.

The Grand Opening of The Helm

This summer we celebrated the Grand Opening of The Helm alongside San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Councilmember Stephen Whitburn, Chief Deputy Treasurer Patrick Henning from the office of California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, and CalHFA's Housing Finance Officer, Kevin Brown.

The Helm is a new affordable housing community in the Cortez Hill neighborhood of Downtown San Diego, just steps from Little Italy. The Helm offers 77 affordable apartment homes and 1 manager’s unit and is a mixed-income development with apartments ranging from 30%- 80% Area Median Income (AMI). 32 of the apartment homes are set at 30% AMI and have rental housing vouchers from the San Diego Housing Commission to help lower-income residents pay rent. The Helm is our first development to utilize Mixed Income Program funding from CalHFA.

Asante Block Party!

This September we co-hosted a block party to celebrate the opening of Asante: our new supportive housing community located in Los Angeles offering 54 apartments for unsheltered seniors, as well as one apartment for the on-site manager.

In coordination with Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson and District Eight’s Housing at Home initiative, we collaborated on hosting a block party for the new residents of Asante and the surrounding community. There was live music and incredible performances, delicious food, and different supportive services booths set up for the residents and community members. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was in attendance.

Celebrating Tizon's Completion with Residents

Last month we held a special event to celebrate the completion of Tizon and the residents that now call Tizon home! Resident activities included lunch and bingo in the ballroom, as well as live music from a resident favorite musician. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and Councilmember Marni von Wilpert joined in on the festivities.

Tizon is our newly opened, hotel-conversion development in Rancho Bernardo that delivers 175 studio apartments and on-site services to low-income seniors, as well as 3 manager units. On-site services are provided by EngAGE and San Ysidro Health. Tizon is funded in part with HOME Investments Partnerships Grant (HOME) funds provided to the City of San Diego by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by the San Diego Housing Commission

Encouraging the Next Generation

We recently had the opportunity to host high school students through the Real Estate Awareness and Diversity Initiative Program (READI) in partnership with the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego. Our team highlighted multiple pathways to get involved in commercial real estate and affordable housing and encouraged the students to continue learning about different careers and opportunities!

Thanksgiving at Zephyr

Supervisor Joel Anderson, along with Affirmed and PATH CEOs, joined volunteers from a local church to serve Thanksgiving meals to our Veterans at our supportive housing community, Zephyr. Zephyr is located in the Grantville neighborhood of San Diego, adjacent to the MTS Grantville Trolley Station.
