Affordable Care Act (ACA) Reporting Deadlines

The ACA requires Applicable Large Employers (ALEs) to notify full-time employees whether they offered minimal essential coverage (MEC) that was affordable and that provided minimum value. Employers of any size with self-insurance plans also must report months of coverage for all individuals. The key reporting deadlines for ALEs in 2024 are:

  • February 28, 2024 — Paper Filing with IRS
  • March 1, 2024 — Form 1095-C: Deadline to Furnish to Individuals
  • April 1, 2024 — Electronic Filing with IRS

In addition — and this is a new impact for smaller employers — beginning January 1, 2024, the IRS requires electronic filing by employers that file 10 or more returns in a calendar year. This means employers with 10 or more 1095-C forms will no longer be able to file paper copies and must file electronically.

Forms 1099 Mailing

IRS Forms 1099 will be mailed by January 31, 2023. If you did not update your W-9 in 2023, please fax a completed, signed, and dated IRS Form W-9 to the QualChoice Finance Department at 501.707.6728.

Revised IRS Forms W-9 must be received by QualChoice no later than the end of February 2024.

January Is National Birth Defects Prevention Month

According to the National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN), every four minutes a baby is born with a birth defect in the US. As medical care improves, people with birth defects are living longer and healthier lives. This month is designated to raise awareness of birth defects and promote strategies that reduce the risk of birth defects and their complications. Recent reports show that rates of infant deaths due to birth defects have declined by 10% in the US. While not all birth defects can be prevented, research shows that certain behaviors and health choices can reduce the risk of having a baby born with a birth defect.
