Read Uncommon Faithfulness, a reflection for Black Catholic History Month. 

The National Black Catholic Congress (NBCC) Board of Trustees  Met with Apostolic Nuncio 
 

The National Black Congress(NBCC)  Archbishop Christophe Pierre,on October 22, 2019 to convey concerns of the African American Catholic community. The two hour meeting featured six vital topics:

  • Black Catholic Fraternalism, Grant Jones, KPC
  • Inculturation, Dr. Kathleen Dorsey Bellow, IBCS
  • Marriage and Family Life Ministry, Donna Grimes, USCCB-AAA
  • Role of Black Catholic Administrators, Pamela Harris, NABCA
  • Social Justice/Racism, Bishop Roy Campbell
  • Vocations - Black Episcopal Leadership/Clergy Seminary Formation, Bishop Fernand Cheri III OFM
  • Challenges & Opportunities for African American Vocations, Deacon Mel Tardy, NBCCC
  • A Call from God, Sr. Josita Colbert SNDdeN, NBSC
Black Catholics Participated Prominently at Christian Churches Together 
 
Black Catholics Participated Prominently at Christian Churches Together (CCT) Convocationin Montgomery AL on October 1-4, 2019. Under the theme of Lament and Hope: the Quad-Centennial of African Forced Migration to the USA, participants visited and reflected on the Equal Justice Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice.

The Catholic family led morning prayer on October 3 with Fr. Manuel Williams CR serving as worship leader and W. Cliff Petty ministering in music. The Catholic delegation included participants from neighboring Diocese of Birmingham and Cynthia Morris, a former USCCB employee. 

2020 Catholic Social Ministry Gathering Diversity Outreach (DOI)
 
2020 Catholic Social Ministry Gathering (CSMG) Diversity Outreach Initiative (DOI ) deadline extended to November 8, 2019. Plan to attend and/or nominate a participant for CSMG in Washington DC on January 25-28, 2020.  Some financial assistance is available through the DOI. 

Visit the website for CSMG details, DOI criteria and application forms. Note that persons with disabilities, emerging leaders and groups of advocates in training are eligible.

IBCS Update -Welcome New Director and Mark  2020 Dates  

IBCS Update - Welcome New Director and Mark 2020 Dates - Dr. Kathleen Dorsey Bellow D. Min. moved to New Orleans to provide leadership and direction to the 40-year old Institute for Black Catholic Studies. Dates for the upcoming Institute are June 26-July 11. 

IBCS' 40th Anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday July 11, 2020. 

Enroll now in the Master's Degree, Continuing Education or Elders' Retreat programs.
