African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey Serves as

Platinum Event Partner of ProcurementCon 23

(TRENTON, NJ – October 9, 2023) The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) served as the Platinum Event Partner of ProcurementCon 23, New Jersey’s small business government contracting, educational, and networking conference, held on Saturday, Oct. 7, in Jersey City. The New Jersey Small Business Development Centers at New Jersey City University hosted the daylong event.

Attendees gained insights into the procurement process. The agenda included speeches, panel discussions, and workshops on understanding the procedures and requirements necessary to get started; developing winning proposals that are competitive and meet agency needs; positioning their companies as strong and credible contenders for request for proposal contracts; standing out from the competition; and building relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders in the procurement process. The day culminated with a series of inspirational BizTalk presentations by select entrepreneurs and business leaders.

AACCNJ Founder, President, and CEO John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM, delivered the keynote address and shared his chamber of commerce journey and the resources offered by the AACCNJ. AACCNJ Chief Operations Officer Phillip D. Woolfolk and Chief of Policy and External Affairs Ferlanda Fox Nixon, Esq., IOM, served as panelists.

“The AACCNJ is proud to support ProcurementCon 23 and to provide our members and the broader small business community with access to valuable information and resources on government contracting,” said Harmon. “Government contracting is a critical driver of economic growth and job creation in New Jersey, and we are committed to helping our members succeed in this arena.”

AACCNJ Vice President of Membership Retention and Relations Mary O. Griffin, PMP, IOM, and Vice President, Membership Acquisition & Financial Administration Nicole D. Baptiste, IOM, successfully enrolled three new AACCNJ members and attracted 12 serious prospects, one of whom expressed interest in joining the AACCNJ at the President’s Club level.

“We are thrilled with the success of our participation in ProcurementCon 23,” continued Harmon. “This event provided us with a great opportunity to connect with potential new members and share the many benefits of belonging to the AACCNJ.”
