cultural use of tobacco.) More than 1 in 5 currently smoke cigarettes.
When it comes to youth, Native American and Alaska Native high schoolers have the highest current cigarette smoking rate of any other race or ethnicity at 16.2%, compared to 5.8% overall.
Tobacco use is associated with heart disease and cancer, the two leading causes of death among Native American and Alaskan Native adults.
