During these 37 incredible years, Ginny has supported thousands of survivors in their journey to a life free from abuse. She can still tell you stories of those she encountered early in her tenure, and remains a champion for every survivor she works with. She celebrates their achievements big and small, encourages their dreams, and finds ways to build relationship and connection between others.
While Ginny’s legacy will be felt in many ways at New Beginnings, one that stands out is her dedication to the children and youth we serve. Ginny will be the first to say that “children are not an extension of their survivor parents, we need to support them as the individuals they are.” Our housing programs have always had funding to give youth the opportunity to pursue their interests and dreams, allowing them to build a sense of mastery and maintain as much normalcy as possible.
We would be remiss if we only celebrated the ways Ginny has made our agency stronger. That is only the beginning of the work that she has done. Ginny has been a pillar in the domestic violence community, serving on committees and working groups, offering her expertise and experience to partner organizations, advocated for funding and policy change, and so much more.
Truly, Ginny Ware is a one of a kind and we have been so very lucky to have her as part of the New Beginnings community for these 37 years. We are going to miss her tremendously!
