Seasonal Synergy: After Election Season

Healing a Divided Nation with Grace & Compassion

family_at_dinner.jpg

As a federal lobbyist, I have said the same thing after every single election in a very divided two-party system. Whenever people are dejected about the loss of their candidate, or gloating over the success of another candidate, so very sure of the impending doom or glory of one party over another, I say, "Maybe." After last night's election, I can honestly say, I doubt anything is primed for real change in any direction, which will make some people happy, and others despondent, depending on how deeply they identify with party ideologies. What does this do to help mend the divide?

As we head into the holidays, spending time with family and friends that may identify politically different than we do, what can we do to focus on the people that matter most to us, in spite of our differences? To begin with, we can focus on the positive aspects they bring to our lives. I can honestly say that my family does not think similarly to me on most issues, but to institute an unnatural barrier between us based on differences in opinion is not a strategy that appeals to me. When I focus on what our differences are, we struggle to get through the meals. When I prepare for and practice neutrality in my interactions, I am reminded of how special our relationships are and I can focus on the positive aspects they bring to our collective table. Being intentional about approaching those in our inner circle and extended family with curiousity and a commitment to open dialogue can help us navigate the more dificult conversations without our emotions getting the best of us.

This takes the development of our Inner Observer. We are all watching ourselves at all times. We have a sense of where we are in time & space, and have the ability to make choices in each moment of Now. Development of your Inner Observer begins with SOUND. How deeply are you listening to the person in front of you? Are you listening to them, or the sound of your own voice planning your rebuttal? Can you listen with an open heart? Do their words affect your inner state of peace? If negatively, can you listen anyway? Does their tone affect your emotional state of being? Do you know how to de-escalate, if negatively affected?

Part and parcel to developing your Inner Observer is learning how to transmute anger, fear, apathy. hate, rage and an increase in low frequency vibrations with compassion, grace, gratitude, joy and love. This is no easy feat in a deeply divided world. For this, we turn once again to the Triple A formula for allowing people to show up EXACTLY AS THEY ARE whether we agree on everything or not. FIRST, we ACKNOWLEDGE who they are in that moment, not who we want them to be. SECOND, we ACCEPT who they are in that moment, not who we want them to be. THIRD, we ALLOW for them to evolve or not evolve in our presence, AND WE LOVE THEM ANYWAY.

We are a diverse society. Allowing people to simply be who they are, so long as they are not hurting anyone else, tells people that they are welcome and included. Shunning people we love in the hopes that they will come around to believing what we believe, is a fruitless endeavor. Keeping our loved ones close and in communication, while letting them know its okay to be on their own evolutionary path without being forced by threat of exclusion allows for more opportunities to keep communicating with empathy and love.

Echoes of Ancient Wisdom:

The Fire Element, Blood & The Emotions

Chinese Herbal Remedies for Blood Issues,

Mood Disorders, and Anxiety/Depression Disorders

The Fire Element & The Emotions

The Fire Element is unique in Five Element Chinese Medicinal Theory in that it contains four meridians and Officials, instead of two: The Heart Official and its sister meridian, the Small Intestine; along with the Pericardium Official (also known as the Heart Protector) and its sister meridian, the Triple Energizer (also known as Triple Heater or San Jiao Official.) Within each character for the emotions is the character for the Heart, signifying that the Ancients understood that our emotions were heart-centered and ran with the blood. The Heart Official governs the spirit of the Shen and its health can be seen through the eyes. The Fire Element governs the emotions of joy, and the lack of joy (sadness.) As such, Chinese Medicine often treats the Fire Element and its syndromes when dealing with mood, emotional health, and biological disturbances that involve blood and the Heart with acupuncture & Chinese Herbs.

Heart/Shen Disturbances in Chinese Medicine

The Character for the Heart looks like a nest with three baby birds in it. We view a disturbed Shen as an unsettled heart. This can be seen in personality changes that can cause forms of depression and anxiety, loss of memory, and biological issues like high blood presure, insomnia, and restlessness and excitability; as well as more extreme cases of paranoid behavior, manic/depressive cycles, addiction, extreme agression, rage, loss of hope and suicidality.

The way that the modern medical complex handles mood and personality issues is compatmentalized from biology, handled by experts in the psychiatry/psychology field. It is usually treated through drug therapy in psychiatry and talk therapy with licensed therapists in psychology and health & wellness coaching therapists and peer counseling in hospital settings. Drug therapy is prevalent and most of the medications used are off-brand for use and could be considered tranquilizers. As for biological issues dealing with the Heart, treatment is still limited to drug therapy or surgery. This practice of symptom reduction is fine in the short term, but does not get to the root cause of things and is unsustainable. Your body is wise. Your symptoms are your teachers. If you remove a symptom without taking care of the root cause, your body will find a symptom you MUST pay attention to, and it may be one that puts you on your back.

Chinese Medicine takes a wholistic approach, never separating the body/mind/spirit in diagnosis, prognosis or treatment strategy. In effect, mood and Heart issues are blood issues and treating the blood supports the function of the Heart and elevates the moods of people. In fact, the QUALITY of our blood deterines how passionately we walk through life and express love for ourselves and each other in this world. Rather than supressing the symptoms we are charged with learning about ourselves from, Chinese Medicine supports the functions of the Meridians, Officials, organs and embodied processes that allow the right circumstances for our bodies to heal themselves fully without an increase in new/other symptoms. While acupuncture, fire-cupping (toxin-reduction at blood level,) tui-na (massage,) and gua-sha (scraping) are all excellent ways to move blood in the body, Chinese herbs & Nutritional Counseling offer the best opportunities to nourish and build blood, cool blood heat, reduce phlegm and wind, calm the Shen and give people a chance to replace medications with natural products that work with their bodies to reduce pathological syndromes without harsh side effects or an increase in new symptoms.

Mood Elevation During Bodywork

The Benefits of Aromatherapy and Mood Enhancement

Have you ever struggled with feelings of depression, especially around holidays or special occasions, and found yourself wondering how to uplift your mood? I’ve certainly faced that challenge, particularly after the loss of my husband.

One of the most soothing and effective strategies I’ve discovered is something as simple as exposure to essential oils. These natural scents can truly help uplift your spirits and promote feelings of happiness and well-being.

Here are some essential oils that can boost your mood:

  • Lemon – Known for its refreshing, energizing qualities, it provides a natural boost to your mood and energy levels.

  • Orange – This uplifting scent helps reduce stress and anxiety, leaving you feeling more relaxed and at ease.

  • Bergamot and Lavender – Together, these oils create a peaceful blend that calms the mind, reduces stress, and encourages emotional balance.

  • Ylang Ylang – Known for its calming effects, it ignites the nervous system, promoting relaxation and a sense of peace.

  • Neroli – This beautiful, floral scent is perfect for alleviating anxiety and boosting your mood.

You can easily enjoy the benefits of these oils at home by using a diffuser, or even while driving in the car. The right aroma can work wonders in helping shift your mood throughout the day.

If you're looking for a more immersive experience, we also offer aromatherapy as an add-on to your massage session. Simply choose the oil you’d like, and we’ll mix it with your massage cream or in the diffuser for a soothing and therapeutic treatment that promotes both relaxation and emotional well-being.

Feel the calming effects of aromatherapy and mood enhancement during your next massage session.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Restore Technology: Compression Therapy

The Compression Experience

The entire experience in the Compression sleeves is 30-60 minutes. When you’re ready, a trained expert will escort you to our dedicated area where you can take a seat and relax. They will help fit you with the Compression sleeves for your desired area—legs, arms or hips.

Once you’re set up with the Compression sleeves, you can listen to music, work on your laptop or read a book, depending on the area receiving treatment. During your session, the booties and sleeves will slowly fill with pressurized air and then expel the air continuously until your session is over.

After your session, a trained expert will help you remove the sleeves. The muscles in your arms and legs should feel more relaxed, and you may even notice a reduction in stiffness and pain.

How Does Compression Work?

Compression helps your body by increasing blood flow to certain areas. Because of the increased blood flow, it helps deliver more oxygen and nutrients to an injured or inflamed area of the body, which may speed up recovery, relieve aches and improve athletic performance overall.

Restore Uses Normatec 2.0 Compression Technology

Traditionally, Compression therapy utilizes socks or stockings, but at Restore Hyper Wellness®, we use the Normatec 2.0 compression technology. This consists of “sleeves” that surround the arms and “booties” that surround the legs. Both sleeves and booties utilize compressed air to gently pressurize and massage the limbs and hip area, helping to reduce recovery time and increase circulation

Not only is this technology that Restore offers important as we move forward in medicine, but Restore is making it affordable for all, with all therapies costing $50 for non-members and $32 for Members of the organization.

We will continue to highlight what this amazing facility offers and encourage everyone to take advantage of this technology and become a member of Restore Hyper Wellness!

What is Compression?

Experience relaxing, controlled pressure on your arms, legs and hips

BENEFITS OF COMPRESSION MAY INCLUDE:

  • Improved lymphatic function and circulation
  • Reduced muscle aches and pain
  • Improved flexibility and mobility
  • Increased athletic performance
  • Reduced recovery time

Coaches Corner: Our Bodies Are Wise Our Symptoms Are Our Teachers

Doing the Inner Work Based On Biological Warnings

Working within Energy Medicine, my coaching clients are familiar with the phrase "Everything is Energy in Different Forms." When we begin to accept that our thoughts and inner life are the fuel and energy that move our biological processes, external world and physical realities, we begin to understand the importance of listening to our bodies and digging deeply into what our eternal spirits housed within our bodies are trying to tell us. Chinese Medicine offers a blueprint for asking the right esoteric questions in the face of the biological "pathologies" we are experiencing in our bodies.

The Fire Element: Relationships With Self Love & Love of Others

As previously discussed, the Fire Element deals with all things governing the Heart, Heart Protector, Small Intestine and Triple Energizer meridians. When dealing with heart or blood issues that include stubborn hyperlypidemia (high cholesterol,) out of control blood pressure, mania/depression, sadness or melancholy or restlessness in life, it's important to explore what you are passionate about, the health of your familial relationships and friendhips, and explore what brings you joy in life.

The Earth Element: Who Supports You in Life? Who Has Your Back?

The Earth Element is governed by the Stomach & Spleen meridianns annd in patholody can make us feel misunderstood and unsupported in life. It can also result in people-pleasing and overtaxing ourselves by never saying "no" to anyone or anything, to our own detriment. Stomach issues are often emotionally-related to circular thinking (worry) and ccan begin to break down important digestive processes leading to endocrine disruption and an inability to receive everything we need from what we ingest throughout the day. Ask yourself if you have enough support in your life? Do the people in your life understand you? What do you worry about? Are these worries irrational or lead to intrusive thoughts? Do you ever say "no" to those who consistently need you without reciprocation? Do you put your own needs first or others?

The Metal Element: What Do You Value? What Inspires You?

The Metal Element is governed by the Lung and Large Intestine meridians and governs how we grieve, what we value and the biological processes around breathing (inspiration) and pooping (letting go.) When struggling with either processes, its important to explore how well we grieve: do we run from grief and ignore the process? Do we dwell in the abyss of grief or find ways to climb out of it? Ask into your own values: do they still serve or do you need to reconsider these? Do you let go of the small things? Do you feel disdain for yourself or the world around you? Are you inspired by anything in life? Can you allow for interaction with those around you who may share different values?

The Water Element: Handling Fear, Safety & Security Issues

The Water Element governs the Urinary Bladder and Kidney meridians, as well as issues surrounding fear and safety in an uncertain world. It governs our blueprint for life and the destiny of our souls in this incarnation and beyond. Pathologies include biological issues normally associated with the Kidneys and Bladder to esoteric issues regarding how safe and secure we feel in this world. When dealing with normal biological disruptions, it's important to meditate on issues around our stability and well-being. Are there areas of your life, in work, family or friendships, where you don't feel safe? Do you have enough financial security to get through each day? Is there unresolved trauma (ptsd) that you need to work through to feel secure in life? How strong is your willpower? Do you have a sense of purpose and direction? Do you feel you are walking towards your destiny?

The Wood Element: Flexibility

Decision-Making, & Courage

The Wood Element governs the Gallbladder & Liver meridians, the emotion of anger, menstrual issues, and the Spirit of the Hun, which is our astral traveler (governs dreaming.) In pathology, we can be prone to rage issues, alcohol and substance use disorders to cope, timidity in decision-making, overt recklessness in decision-making, nightmares, menstrual issues that can be disruptive to reproduction, and our ability to be flexible in the world. When struggling with Wood Element issues, it's important to examine if we are being to rigid in life or if we can let things flow easily. Our we prone to anger issues? Do you feel stuck in a lower vibrational pattern of anger or irritation/frustration with an inability to make changes? As the Liver governs the eyes, ask yourself if you are seeing situations clearly or clouded?
