Welcome to Veritas Classical Academy! Our mission is to develop the academic potential and personal character of each student through an academically rich educational experience.

From Robert Frost to Botticelli and Peacocks to Icarus, Veritas Students Tackle a Challenging Curriculum

Following a wonderful Matriculation Ceremony last Wednesday, Veritas students began their classical studies in earnest.  During our first few days our students have been exposed to the soaring arias of Mozart, the haunting woods of Robert Frost (as recited by Mr. Dschida), the confusion at the Tower of Babel, the Renaissance art of Botticelli, the Preamble to the Constitution, the myth of Icarus, ornithology, poetry, mathematics assessments, and Latin.  Not to mention kickball, Spanish, and a live hen!

We hope your children have come home excited to share with you everything they have learned thus far.  Keep in mind that our library is open to parents as well.  We have many resources to supplement what your child is learning in school.  So, if your child suddenly wants to learn more about Roman architecture, peacock feathers or George Washington, you are welcome to check out a book to help you both make wonderful discoveries together.
After School Program Begins Next Week
Our After School program is organized in quarters.  This allows you the flexibility to participate in other extracurricular activities throughout the year.

Home school and public/private school students are welcome.

German is offered the entire year (all four quarters); Chess Club meets the first and third quarters with individual matches scheduled in the interim quarters; and Drama Club meets the second and fourth quarters.

German I
First Quarter: September 2-October 24
Every Tuesday and Thursday
Open to students in 2nd grade - adults

The method we use to teach German is full immersion.  We learn language either informally, such as when we're very young and our parents speak to us, or in more formal, instructional settings. The reason immersion works is that, although it is instructional, it attempts to replicate the more optimal, natural method.  Whether we're playing cards, talking about food, or building a puzzle the student will do all activities in German.  No prior German language study required.

Chess Club
First Quarter: September 3-October 24
Every Wednesday
Open to students in 2nd - 7th grades

It's not about kings, queens, and rooks but rather quadrants and coordinates, angles and lines, thinking strategically and foreseeing consequences.  Chess is a fabulous learning tool to increase high level analytical skills, advance math skills, and foster self-confidence.  No prior experience necessary.

The cost for the After School Program is $15/week for Chess Club; $30/week for German; or $40/week for both. Please call the school for more information or to register.
