Launches Pop-Up Outreach Events
With the Drop-In Center open, After8toEduate and CitySquare teams have been coordinating outreach opportunities to spread the word about services available at the Center. This coordinated effort led to two inaugural “pop-up” outreach events in August. Both events resulted in a greater awareness about the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center for youth who could be experiencing homeless. Read more

On August 23, volunteers gathered at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center for a garden workday. Together, the After8toEducate team and volunteers weeded and began preparations for the fall garden. Thank you to everyone who participated!

September 7 Event:
College Readiness Workshop
A free College Readiness Workshop for youth ages 1 4-21 will take place at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center on September 7. This event is sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Incorporated® Omicron Mu Omega Chapter and the Legacy of Service Foundation. Participants will hear from a panel of recent college grads, college professors, and other local educators. Youth will receive free school supplies, giveaways, and lunch. Topics include: college application process, why HBCU's can be a good choice, funding scholarships, managing your budget, and financial & emotional self care.

After8toEducate Receives
$150,000 Grant Award from AT&T
Dallas-based  AT&T  is donating $150,000 to After8toEducate to further efforts to provide services, support, and safety to Dallas ISD students experiencing homelessness. AT&T's Believe Dallas Initiative is partnering with local public and private entities to help homeless individuals and veterans in the Dallas area. Read more.

With more than 4,000 Dallas ISD students experiencing homelessness in our community, we are dedicated to creating partnerships that help change the lives of these students one day at a time. SchoolHouse Connection Outlines Data from Recent Survey on Youth Homelessness
Students and educators returned back to school this month, and SchoolHouse Connection released a five-part summation of research findings related to student homelessness. SchoolHouse Connection, a national non-profit working to overcome homelessness through education, analyzed data revealing distressing data and providing tangible action steps for educators and school administrators to support students experiencing homelessness. After8toEducate ("After8") is a first-of-its-kind, collaborative effort to support unsheltered youth enrolled in Dallas Independent School District high schools and provide immediate support services for homeless young adults ages 14-21. Powered through Social Venture Partners Dallas, After8 harnesses the strengths of Dallas ISD and nonprofit agencies Promise House and CitySquare.
