After8toEducate is excited to announce Billy Lane as its new site manager for the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center. Billy joined After8 on October 29, 2018. He is a native of Dallas, Texas and an alumn of Skyline High School. Billy earned his undergraduate degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University. It was during his years as an ordained minister that Billy began to learn of the widespread problem of poverty in America, especially among the working poor. His faith moved him to partner with other clergymen and grassroots community organizing groups who recognized the systemic nature of poverty in urban cities like Dallas.
Since then, Billy has served various nonprofit organizations working on issues of household food insecurity, equity in public education, indigent health care access, and job skills training. As a private citizen, Billy remains committed to advancing justice for all and eliminating systemic poverty in Dallas.This year, Billy will earn a master's degree of Liberal Studies in Human Rights and Social Justice from Southern Methodist University.
I'm thrilled to be part of this dynamic collaborative focused on supporting our unsheltered youth," says Billy. He continued, "I'm eager to help develop the partnership in a way that opens the doors of justice and opportunity to students experiencing homelessness
." Billy and his wife Janet Morrison-Lane, Ed.D. live in Dallas and are parents to two amazing daughters, Kristian and Rubi.
