October - CYM Giveback

Children and Youth Ministry wants to give back to those who give to help others. CYM’s

October giveback this month will be for the First Responders. We want to put together

kits for the metro area EMS, Police, Sheriff, Firefighters, Constables, 911 dispatchers for

which we will be asking for all CYMers and Congregants to deliver after service on

October 30, 2022 to let them know we care about their service throughout the metroplex.

We are asking for contributions of $350+ to help us put together enough impact kits of

care to our First Responders. We are asking for all contributions by October 22, 2022 to

allow us time to purchase and prepare them for distribution.

Candy Bags

Children and Youth Ministry is requesting bags of non peanut candy to be distributed on Youth Sunday. If you can please help us with 3-4 individually wrapped bags of candy for our CYMers. We will be so grateful. We are asking for all contributions by Thursday,

October 27, 2022. Please see Ms. LaTonya if you have any additional questions.

UT Volunteers 

Children and Youth Ministry will be serving as greeters and escorts for the Texas

Longhorns vs. Iowa State Cyclones game at UT on Saturday October 15, 2022. If you are interested in serving the day

with us please email agape_cym@yahoo.com We have had over 40 volunteers over the

course of 3 of the games thus far for this season earning major bucks for Agape to help

us continue to impact and serve the community in a major way.

CYM in Need of Items 

· Loose Change - We provide offerings to our children and youth during offering time. If you have some spare change to share with us to help us ensure that every child gets to participate in offering time in CYM that will be much appreciated. Please see Ms. LaTonya. 

· Empty clean water bottles - We will be doing some experiments in Oct and need empty water bottles for our learning environment. If you can please provide any you may have by Oct 25.

· CYM will be filling hearts and minds with yummy sweets on Oct 30. Please consider contributing non peanut bags of candy for our Youth Sunday Extravaganza. We need all contributions by Oct 27, 2022.

·       CYM still has openings for:

o   Teachers

o   Creative Arts 

o   College Prep Professionals (including test taking skills, essay writing tips and tools, college application completion, Scholarship and grant information)

October CYM Study

What’s in a Name? Why does a Name Matter? Children and Youth Ministry will take a look

into the Names of God for the month of October. October 1 we started with Jehovah

Jireh-The Lord shall Provide. Jehovah is the Relational God and with each ending

reveals a deeper attribute that children and youth have the power to call on what they

need when they need it. We also looked up each students name to let them know the

attributes in their own name. We look forward to this journey on the Power of a Name.

Names are made from letters, letters form words, words have meanings, a meaning gives

purpose which means there is value in a name.
