Calling all helpers...

Janna's family has set up a CaringBridge page where you can sign up for specific time shifts to go and sit with Janna, advocate for Janna, and help her as needed. There are several time slots we need help with:

6am-10am
10am-2pm
2pm-6pm
6pm-10pm

When you get to the CaringBridge site, click on the "Ways to Help" link in the purple area. Once there, select "Visit the Planner" to see the calendar and the time slots available. Select the time slot you can volunteer to help out and then fill out the form with your information.

They are now at the Bridgemoor Transitional Care facility beginning their long road to recovery. Pat and Janna both need their village right now, so please help if you are able. Thank you in advance for your help, prayers and support.

My name is Sarah Frantz and I am a doctoral candidate in Developmental Psychology. I was born and raised in Fort Worth and now attend graduate school in New York City (The Graduate Center, City University of New York). I am writing to you because I am in town until mid-July working on my dissertation research and I feel fathers involved in your church, Agape' MCC, would be great participants for my study.

My research is on the ways in which societal expectations and gender norms impact how gay and straight fathers in North Texas and New York City raise their young children (2-10 year-olds). There is very little psychological research on fathers in general, but especially on gay fathers. From the research we do have, it is very clear that gay fathers are wonderful parents and their children are thriving. Unfortunately, bills have been passed recently in Texas that greatly limit the paths available for LGBTQ couples to become parents.

This study is social justice oriented and I hope to provide a voice for gay fathers while demonstrating their many unique strengths as parents. It includes a short interview and a survey. Total participation time is less than an hour and I can meet participants anywhere that is convenient for them. Additionally, every participant receives a $20 Amazon gift card as a thank you.

Prayer for General Conference

Gracious and loving God, we seek the guidance of your Holy Spirit each and every day, but especially we ask for your wisdom during the week of our General Conference. We give thanks for all of those who have worked so hard to make our General Conference a reality. We give thanks for all of those who will lead us in worship and in business. We give thanks for our hosts and the staff of the hotel where we will meet. We give thanks for our guests who will inspire us by their wisdom.

As we come from around the world to gather in Orlando FL USA we ask for travel mercies for safety. As we join with sisters and brothers face-to-face and virtually, may we learn more about your love and grace.

We especially lift our prayers for those who have stepped forward to lead us as Moderator of MCC or as a member of MCC’s Governing Board. May we attend to your Spirit as we discern the direction you would have us go. May we find ourselves at the conclusion of our conference more united in our common love for you, for one another and for those yet to find MCC. And may we return to our home churches encouraged to move into our next half century with enthusiasm for who you are calling us to become.

In the name of Jesus and in your many holy names, we pray. Amen.
