“Life is Simple and Beautiful”
Rev. David

Some years ago, in a different time and place in my journey…I wrote the above quote. I used it as my “signature” on my emails for many years. Occasionally, someone would read it and email me back “do you really believe this?” I believed it then, and I believe now. I have to return to it over and over again…in pandemic, in Black (Trans) Lives Matter, in the battle of the masks, in the stream of micro aggressions that show up day to day within me (ugh) and outside of me. The list of reasons not to believe in a simple, beautiful life can go on and on. So why do I believe it? Let’s talk about on Sunday…it will also be my 55 th birthday…that means an extra year of wisdom 😊.

Community Corner
Life can be simple, if we let it. It seems we often struggle with ways in which to slow down, be present and simply exist within our own thoughts, desires and needs and those of others. Sometimes we need to slow down in order to see truths we already know. Saying out loud that we want to live a more simple life is more difficult that the actions it takes to do so. If it were easy we would not be having this conversation. Slow down, take a deep breath and move forward allowing all the grace needed to traverse this ride we call life.

Holy One, as we continue to learn and adapt in an ever-changing world, lead us through times of trouble into lands of plenty. Align the rich with the poor, the healthy with the sick, the forgotten with the privileged. Guard us from the temptation to think of our past as our future; reveal your paths toward a brighter and more just world.
Embolden, enliven, and envelope all your people so we may look out for the lonely and care for the hungry. For the hunger of the world is deep and we must tend to the physical hunger of our siblings, care for the spiritual hunger of our souls, mend the broken hearts of our communities.
Guide us toward the greater good where we may all swim in your eternal presence. For it is you who has called us, you who has placed us, you who provides for us.
May we know of the Spirit that draws us together; may we know of the Spirit that binds us in love. Amen.
