This Week's Wednesday Gathering - 7pm

Join us this week as we tap into our creative sides... we are beginning a six week series called "Sacred Earth, Sacred Work" and the theme for Sunday is Creation as Blessing. We will be working with broken pieces of clay pots to see how we might craft something new from something familiar. Come imagine and create with us! There is left over birthday cake from this past Sunday... just to sweeten the pot... ALL THE PUNS INTENDED!!
Oh God, come to my assistance;
Oh Lord, make haste to help me.

We come before you in our varied states:
Some joyous;
Some grieving;
Some frightened;
Some calm.

May we claim and know the promise of Psalm 27:

The Lord is the Light and my salvation

God, these are frightening times:
With wars and rumors of wars--
Where refugees are shunned and
Racist violence is rampant--
While the powerful lie and mislead.

The Lord is the Light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

In times such as these our endurance fades:
The news is too much
The arguments are too much
Daily fighting for the humanity of our fellow travelers--and our very selves--to be recognized...
Is too much.

In those moments may we remember

The Lord is the Strength of my Life, whom shall I fear?

We don't know how the details will play out
But we do know how the story ends.

We do know how the story ends.

God, be with us in the struggle, as you've promised.
Be with us as we speak,
Be with us as we pray,
Be with us as we write,
Be with us in every breath.

May we sing it, claim it, and remember this day to

Wait on the Lord and be of Good Courage

Amen, and Amen.

Prayer submitted by Rev. Lori McPherson, Member of the Governance Committee, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
"Creation as Blessing" - Rev. David Wynn

It will be great to be home this Sunday with my Agape' Family. My six pack enjoyed a week in Rockport, Texas communing with the ocean and all the things that live in and around it. Our five year... who will be six on Friday... had his very first encounter with a jelly fish, an experience he will not soon forget. After the screaming died down, Jackson told me this story "Daddy, I was floating on my water board and I saw something black and white floating beside me so I shoved it away and it stung me!" His momma fired up Google and we learned we should pack his wrist in sand and that would help...(how did people parent before google?) thankfully it did help! As he was telling the story AGAIN to his grandfather...his grandfather noted that it was probably a good thing that he pushed it away as it might have otherwise floated into his legs and stung more of him! Hmmm, a blessing in disguise?

In this first week of our series on creation spirituality, we focus on the idea of "original blessing.” The universe, and all life within it, is fundamentally a blessing, fundamentally good, and created to flourish–including us. This doesn’t prevent hardship and difficulties, but it does strengthen us as we go through tough times. It allows us to deepen in faith and spirituality without fear. Life in all its joys and struggles is a blessing–which means, it is something worth sharing. How might moving through our days with an eye for recognizing goodness and blessing transform our experience of life?

Jack still has the marks of being stung, but he has learned something important in his journey...and has something worth sharing. Can we recognize the vastness and beauty of creation and let is shape our experience of life and embrace transformation? Let's talk more on Sunday!
You are invited to join us for a meet & greet on Saturday, 6/9, at 10 a.m.

We are opening our door to new members of this organic and ever-changing gathering. Our goal is to offer a safe and non-judgmental venue for growing and healing.

Your grief may be old or brand new, it may be the loss of a loved one (human, animal ...) or a change in lifestyle ~ we grieve for so many losses and need support to deal with the pain. This group offers hope.

Sincerely,
Linda @GOOD GRIEF

"So many lifetimes later I try to bargain ...maybe I could go in place of you.
The answer is always the same and I have to reinvent my life again. Without you."
Agape' Summer Series - Sacred Earth, Sacred Worth

What if we lived life truly connected to the origins of Creation and the Creator? In the beginning God created all things and called them originally “good.”

In this series we will explore six essential ideas found in Creation Spirituality–a way of living within the community of earth that deepens our reverence for life, participates in the creativity of the cosmos, and develops our passion for justice and human transformation. It compels us to lead lives of spiritual inquiry, creativity, and prophetic action as our sacred work in the world.

Summer Book Series

Summer Book Study begins on June 13! (beginning dates are Wednesdays, June 13, June 20, July 11, and July 25 ).

This Summer and into the Fall, we will be exploring a spirituality for the two halves of life. This study will be based on Franciscan Richard Rohr's book Falling Upward; A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life.
Rohr writes, "There is much evidence on several levels that there are at least two major tasks to human life. The first task is to build a strong 'container' or identity; the second is to find the contents that the container is meant to hold."

Join us as we map out the territory and discern what is coming and being offered to us all!
Upcoming Workshops - From Judy Hudson

This summer, I am offering classes in how to create Mesmerizing Mosaic Tiles (June 16 and July 21) and Magical Underwater World (June 23 and July 28). I use a lot of clay to create 3D mixed media artwork and many people have asked me about my techniques and methods.

All four classes are from 9-4, held at the social hall at Agape'. All materials and lunch are included AND provided in the registration fee.  Classes are limited to 15 people . If you follow the link, you'll find the registration forms for each class. Hope to see you there!
