Dr Purchase moderates session at TXF Cape Town Trade Conference

global_business_people.jpg The TXF Cape Town trade conference was held at the Table Bay Hotel this  past week, bringing together local and international business leaders in trade and trade finance, as well as senior government representatives. While the focus was primarily on trade finance and trade facilitation, a session was also dedicated to "Industrial meets Technological: Making agri-value chains work for all participants". Dr Purchase, CEO of Agbiz, moderated this session in which the panellists, Mr Bennie van Rooy (Land Bank), Mr Zhann Meyer (Nedbank) and Mr Dinesh Sharma (Olam) explored bringing small-scale producers and even smallholders into high-value supply chains through aggregation models across Sub-Sahara Africa. A number of major successful case studies highlighted by the panellists indicated what is possible if such aggregation models are structured correctly, if technology is employed correctly, and access to finance, markets and infrastructure is  provided timeously and efficiently.
