Welcome Hudson!

The NH Food Bank is thrilled to welcome Hudson T. Wells as our new Fresh Rescue Coordinator. In this role, Hudson will be working with retailers and agencies across New Hampshire to keep fresh food moving where it’s needed most—because no one should have to choose between nutrition and access.

Hudson has spent more than 10 years in the nonprofit world, from launching programs and facilitating groups to rolling up his sleeves wherever the work called. He’s known for combining organization with a human touch, and for reminding teams that a little humor can go a long way when the days get long.

A proud New Hampshire local, Hudson enjoys live music, strong coffee, and finding creative ways to make spreadsheets less boring (yes, he insists it’s possible). He’s grateful to be joining the NHFB community and looks forward to supporting both agencies and retail partners with fresh energy.

Help us give Hudson a warm welcome!

Partner Agency Network Call

Save the Date: October 23rd at 1pm

At the October 23rd Partner Agency Network Call, Heidi Johnson, NHFB SNAP Outreach & Application Assistance Coordinator, will present three levels of SNAP support available to agencies whose goals include increasing client access to SNAP.

The first level of support starts with NHFB providing marketing materials, tabling, presentations, and application assistance to agencies for their clients. At level two, NHFB provides agency training and ongoing learning resources as educational support so agencies can engage comfortably and knowledgably one-on-one with their clients; NHFB continues to provide outreach services as needed. Level three is for agencies that are active in SNAP Outreach at the previous two levels and who desire to move into application assistance and guidance.

For level three agencies, NHFB will provide application assistance & support training, ongoing guidance from NHFB SNAP Coordinator, and a “NHFB Application Assistance & Support” certification.

Listening Sessions Recap

Thank you to everyone that participated in our Partner Agency Listening Sessions across the state. We hosted a total of 11 Listening Sessions in all and had over 150 people join us in person or via Zoom.

Your feedback has already helped us make changes so that we can better support you all and has been vital in our planning purposes for how we want to move forward in the future. Thank you everyone!

Agency Spotlight:

Christ the King Food Pantry

Christ the King Food Pantry in Concord serves approximately 400 individuals and 160 households. Recently, they just held a ribbon cutting on their brand new pantry space and shared with the community their desperate need for growth to provide dignity to their clients.

From a low-ceilinged basement with rickety stairs and clients waiting outside on the porch to a brand new location that is fully handicap accessible, where clients have a waiting room and full client choice.

This pantry has gone above and beyond in providing their clients with the dignity they deserve and has many supportive members that made this transition possible. Thank you to Letitia and team for all you do for those experiencing food insecurity in Concord and the surrounding towns.

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is coming up quickly! The NH Food Bank has purchased some turkeys and we will have a limited supply of both purchased turkeys and donated gift cards to distribute to partner agencies. We highly encourage all of our partner agencies to start planning ahead for their Thanksgiving needs. Side items are already on Agency Express for purchase and the Thanksgiving Request Form will go out mid-September. Keep in mind that although we may not be able to accommodate your full request, we do get an abundance of turkeys donated closer to the holiday that we can distribute out to anyone that needs them.

Thanksgiving Requests are due by October 10th!

A Message from Agency Relations

We've been going through some staffing changes over here in Agency Relations, so we wanted to thank you all for your patience and understanding. Courtney Webster has transitioned to per diem to help with training our new Fresh Rescue Coordinator, Hudson Wells. We also said goodbye to our Agency Relations Coordinator from Hillsborough County, Alyssa McKinney. We wish you the best of luck in your new role, Alyssa. Thank you for all you've done for your agencies over the years you've been with the Food Bank. We'll be in touch when we hire a new coordinator for Hillsborough County, but until then reach out to Kristie.
