Enrolling seniors who are losing their coverage with WEA Trust Med Plus or Health Tradition is easier than ever
If you have clients who are losing their coverage with WEA Trust Med Plus or Health Tradition, they can enroll in a WPS Medicare supplement plan with guaranteed issue. WPS can get them signed up as early as the first of the month following the receipt of their termination letter; for example, if they receive a letter dated June 23, they are eligible to apply for a July 1 effective date.
You do not need to submit a copy of the termination letter with the application, but you should be prepared to provide us with a copy if requested. We will accept applications 90 days prior to the requested effective date. For example, if they choose to wait until Jan. 1, 2023, the earliest they could apply would be Oct. 1, 2022.
If a customer waits until their coverage ends, they will have 63 days after their loss of coverage to apply for a Medicare supplement plan with guaranteed issue. Any customer with a WEA Trust Med Plus or Health Tradition individual Medicare or group plan that is ending would have guaranteed issue. However, please note that the Wisconsin State Employee Trust Fund (ETF) escrow funds cannot be used to purchase our plans. ETF funds can only be used for plans the state has selected.
