Connecticut Work Restrictions: Expanded Real Estate Services May Have Onsite Workers
In a previous notice, we advised our agents that Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 7H recognized that legal services, along with financial and insurance services, were deemed essential and thus would not be subject to announced restrictions concerning onsite staffing. That Executive Order noted that the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) would release Guidance containing further information.
On March 22, the DECD released that
Guidance
, listing the businesses that will
not
be subject to onsite staff restrictions. That listing contains a number of services that are integral to real estate transactions.
At Section 7, the Guidance provides that “real estate transactions and related services, including residential leasing and renting,” are not subject to onsite staff restrictions. Section 10 provides that “home-related services, including real estate transactions, closings, appraisals, and moving services” are also not subject to the restrictions.
We appreciate the efforts of State Senator Bizzarro and State Representative Doucette, who encouraged the DECD to expand the list of exempted services to include other professionals who play an important role in real estate transactions.
