Obtaining Your ALTA Policy Forms Licensing or Limited Use Waiver Requests
Dear ,
We’re contacting you to clarify how to obtain your 2024 American Land Title Association (ALTA) Policy Forms Licensing (PFL) or Limited Use Waiver requests, as well as ALTA’s new price structure.
While it has been our pleasure to cover agents’ fees since 2009 when ALTA established the program, it is no longer practical for us to continue to do so. We appreciate your understanding.
Recap of ALTA Policy Forms Licensing
- ALTA copyrights the policy and endorsement forms in use at all title insurance underwriters, including Advocus National Title Insurance Company (formerly ATG).
- To use the copyrighted forms, title agents are required to pay ALTA the annual PFL or membership fee or apply for a Limited Use Waiver.
- When we sent our letter October 16, 2023, we did not know ALTA would contact members two weeks later about eliminating the Limited Use Waiver and increasing PFL fees for the upcoming licensing period. (Worth noting, fees have been the same since 2009.)
- Reasons for the above are related to ALTA’s mission to provide value to its members, “As the industry grows and changes, it’s more important than ever to ensure ALTA has the necessary resources to continue to serve the title insurance industry.” Chief among them is ALTA’s ongoing work with regulators and legislators on Capitol Hill on behalf of all title professionals, which helps ensure we can conduct real estate transactions in a safe and efficient manner.
