A Message from the Headmaster

Dear Families,
At long last and after a number of pleas to help our children, employees, and families safely cross Lafond Avenue, the City of St. Paul has installed a crosswalk on Lafond outside of Door #1. Other adjustments are in the offing, but we hope to have all adjustments (new signage, amended traffic flow patterns on street and in parking lots, etc.) finalized by the beginning of next school year (2020-21).
After several conversations with St. Paul traffic personnel, they have come to us with a number of recommendations which we will gradually roll out during the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. The first involves the use of the new crosswalk. We must now discipline ourselves to cross Lafond at the crosswalk or at the Kent/Lafond or Lafond/Mackubin corners. Please help one another to follow these rules—for safety’s sake!
As I stated earlier, additional adjustments are on the way—including the possibility of a one-way Lafond Ave. In the meantime, the city traffic office personnel will be back to see how we are doing with the crosswalk. So, please let us each do our part to cross Lafond at the crosswalk and keep our students safe.
A special thank you to Mrs. Teresa Grau (mother of two Lower School students) for her diligence and persistence with the City of St. Paul. Without her, we would not be where we are!
Blessings on your week,
Kevin Ferdinandt

Virtue & Character Formation: New Episode on the Saint Agnes Podcast!
“Are Catholic schools simply public schools with religion classes? If they are, that’s a problem… The curriculum itself has to be filled through and through with the Catholic intellectual tradition; there has to be some purposeful formation in the virtues; and there has to be a rich sacramental life; and the subject areas need to be integrated together.”
Mr. Michael Adkins, Dean of Academics, and Mrs. Claire Bona, Grade 6 Teacher, dive into the topic of virtue and how to form young people of great character.

it'll all work out!
