I have been inspired today by your children, our teachers, and the administrative staff. So many of you (and them) have offered us help to manage the details of time away. Thank you for that!
I spoke with all Kindergarten through 12th grade students this morning in smaller group assemblies (with some distance between each of them). I told them a few things that I hoped they would hear from me: pray, hope, and do not be afraid; help your parents and family members wherever possible; do not give in to sloth over this break—instead, find something positive to do for a neighbor, family member, or friend. I told the seniors that we were committed to making sure that they will graduate (if, of course, they do their part). We all prayed together.
All sports practices, co-curricular activities, and rehearsals (including the musical rehearsals) have been cancelled.
The musical has been cancelled for this year
(that was announced to cast members at a meeting in the auditorium today at 3:00 p.m.). Upper School Grandparent’s Day has been cancelled.
Faculty and staff members will take the next three days to plan for distance learning from March 30th on (I pray it is not too long). That means that our faculty and administrators will be working to put together a plan that is workable for the students, achievable by the faculty, and valuable to our children’s long term educational needs. Note: we have no intention to move toward a 1:1 laptop/iPad/device program at Saint Agnes School, and our approach to distance learning has the goal of addressing the educational needs of our students in this time of caution around COVID-19.
We will be communicating a plan for March 30th (and after) at the end of this week. Stay tuned for more on distance learning.
Please look for an email from us later this week.
Blessings to you and your family,
P.S. The school office will be closed on Friday, March 20.
