It has come to our attention that some in our school community (e.g. parents and students) are ignoring the handicapped parking areas. Of particular concern is the handicapped parking in front of the school’s main entrance on Lafond Avenue. Please note that it is illegal to park or idle in these areas without a handicapped parking pass or sticker. In addition, there are several Aggie families for whom this lack of consideration provides a hardship, and we ask that you avoid the following:
  • Idling with your car on, waiting for your student(s)
  • This causes families with handicapped members to ask you to leave their designated parking area; that’s unfair and an extra hardship for them.
  • Parking (even for a very short time) in handicapped areas

One family has written about their frustration and lack of cooperation of some in our community; we invite you to read their remarks below:

“Hello, I am writing to express my frustration with the handicap parking situation at our school. I have two children that attend Saint Agnes and another child with special needs who attends a different school. My children participate in many activities where I am frequently picking up and dropping them off after school or going to their athletic games, along with my child who is in a wheelchair. Almost every time I arrive at school, I am unable to get a handicap parking spot because others without handicap parking permits are using it as a loading and unloading space. One time when going to my daughter's game I had to park across the street in the parking lot because there were no spots open, and I had push my son in his wheelchair through the snow to get to the school. We love Saint Agnes, but this issue really is upsetting and I am hoping that you can help my family and other families who are affected by it. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and help.”

Thank you for your cooperation.
