Participants Selected for Learning Collaboratives That Will

Address Health Disparities and DEI Initiatives

Ten community-based organizations and 12 Area Agencies on Aging from around the country have been selected by the Aging and Disability Business Institute to participate in the 2023 Network Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Learning Collaborative and the Building Accountability for Health Equity Learning Collaborative, both of which will focus on developing strategies and best practices in diversity, equity and inclusion practices.

USAging Announces Availability of Funds to

Support Community-Based Vaccination Outreach

With the goal of helping older adults and people with disabilities stay healthy, the U.S. Administration for Community Living has funded USAging to launch the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative to support local activities that promote vaccination against COVID-19 and the seasonal flu. Local organizations, including Area Agencies on Aging, No Wrong Door systems, Title VI Native American Aging Programs, Aging and Disability Resource Centers, Centers for Independent Living and a broad range of aging and disability organizations, can apply to receive funding at www.usaging.org/advc. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. USAging administers the Aging and Disability Business Institute.

Peer Support to Improve Medicare Advantage Outcomes

In a recent webinar hosted by Bright Spots in Healthcare, a panel of experts from Humana, Regence, SCAN Health Plan and Wisdo discussed how incorporating peer support programs into Medicare Advantage plans can improve clinical outcomes. Panelists also addressed ways peer support programs can lower costs and boost engagement for members with chronic diseases, behavioral health issues and other factors affecting the social determinants of health.
